BUSINESS WOMEN ENJOY BUFFET DINNER The Walkerton Business and Professional Women’s Club gathered at The Inn Restaurant, Koontz Lake, on Thursday, February 27, for a 7 o'clock buffet dinner and meeting. The meeting opened with the introduction of guests, Barb Burket, Marilyn Knizner and Shirley Broker. The secretary’s report was given by Jean Cole and the treasurer's report by Pauline Baughman. The only one contributing to the birthday bank was Iva Clark. It was noted that scholarship applications are available at the guidance offices of John Glenn and Oregon-Davis High Schools. This year’s scholarship is for $500.00 and applications must be in by April 1. A nominating committee was selected consisting of Darlene Beaver, Chris Porter and Bette Wolfenbarger. The March committee will be chaired by Alice Walker and assisting her will be Linda Relos, Bette Wolfenbarger, Marty Malstaff, Vy Masterman. Becky Reed, Mary Ann Christensen, Jo Ellen Stevens. Sharon Klinedinst, Regina Bussie and Eleanor Ludwig. Cherry pies were awarded to Audrey Reed, Pauline Baughman, Deb Anspaugh, Sue Urbin, Martha Mull and Carol Beem.

HOLE IN ONE Mrs. Charles Hogan, Koontz Lake, became a member of the "Hole In One” club on February 20, when she fired the shot on the 16th hole at the Pine Crest Golf Club, Largo, Florida. Mrs. Hogan was also awarded a certificate by the club in recognition of this feat. The Hogans, Charles and Helen, who winter in Indian Rocks, Florida, were enjoying an afternoon of golf with Mrs. Robert Philips, Valparaiso. The Hogans are members of the Plymouth Country Club. QUILTING DEMONSTRATION AND DISPLAY AT IST SOURCE BANK “The Trilogy of America”, original quilts by LaPorte artist Charlotte Christiansen Bass, will be on display in the lobby of Ist Source Bank's main office in South Bend through March 7. Inspired by "American the Beautiful”, Charlotte Bass' creations depict scenes from three periods in American history emphasizing the immigrant experience. They are entitled "America. America”.
