Miss Cindy Jones, of Montpelier. Vermont, has been here visiting with ther grandmother, Mrs. Faye Jones and other relatives in the area. Carolee Epperson, of Lake Station, and her mother, Mrs. Esther Kaufman, spend Monday in Michigan City. Mr. and Mrs. John Matousek returned home last week after a two and a half week vacation spent in FLorida. They visited a few former friends but mostly just relaxed at Fort Myers and Sanibel Island. They said the weather was ideal where they were and enjoyed the trip very much. Northam, Mary Jo Singleton, Mary Singleton. Chana Singleton, Angie McKesson, Jennifer Price, Mindy Salyer, Dawn Rhodes, Minday Allsop, James Schmidt, Ed Teaversa, Rachelle Fisher, Melanie Stallings, Barb Osowski and Tom Osowski attended the Girls State Basketball Tournament on Saturday. March 1, at Indianapolis. A good time was had by everyone observing the three close games and cheering on Fort Wayne Northrup to a victory. While there the group enjoyed dinner at the Spaghetti Factory and staying at the Hyatt. A surprise 43rd anniversary party was given for Floyd and Martha Dipert on Sunday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Andy Marks and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dipert and daughter, of LaPorte; Mr. and Mrs. Terrv Dipert and son, of New
Tracy; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dipert and son, of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Haag and daughter and Melvin Dipert, of Tyner; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haag, of Plymouth; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Robison, of Lakeville. After the opening of many lovely gifts, anniversary cake, ice cream, nuts and mints were served along with punch. Miss Ethel Bierly and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Tuttle were in Plymouth on Sunday evening to attend the dihner and concert put on by the Manchester College Choir, at the Brethren Church, which they enjoyed very much. Mr. Carl Steinke, Indianapolis, spent the weekend in Walkerton with Mrs. Martha Mull and other family and friends. Mrs. Viola Barden and Mrs. Goldie Skinner were Sunday afternoon visitors of the Jerry Moore family, in Plymouth. Mr. J. R. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin. A farewell luncheon was given on Friday for Mrs. Marg Morrey in the home of Mrs. Morrey by the Koontz Lake Crafties Club, of which there are 11 members. Eight members of the club were present with a monetary gift presented to Mrs. Morrey. Those present included Miss Dorothea Brenner, Mrs. Ruth Bobbee, Mrs. Helen Bowman, Mrs. Marg Curl, Mrs. Lucille Dixon, Mrs. Clara Dixon and Mrs. Alfredia Onika. Mrs. Morrey left on Saturday for Las Vegas, Nevada, where she will make her home. MRS. BEATY RETURNS FROM CALIFORNIA Mrs. Leonard Beaty returned home on Friday evening from California, where she spent three months with a daughter and husband, Richard and Shirley Roberts in Canoga Park. Thanksgiving week was spent in Ennis, Montana, with a granddaughter and family before going down to the Roberts. Dick spent three weeks in Puerto Rico in February on some special work for Northrop, so Shirley and her mother visited and took life easy. Friends visited during the winter
were Margaret Cecrle, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Walkerton; a niece and family, Mr. and. Mrs. Nourse, of Las Altos; and the Steve Bakers, of Hemet. On February 3, Bill and Carol Roberts had a baby girl which is Mrs. Beaty's fifth great-grandchild and a nice visit was had with them. California suffered some very severe rain storms producing great floods and mud slides damaging highways and destroying many homes in February. The last week Mrs. Beaty was there they had some very warm days with highs being 94, then came back to 24 degree weather in Chicago on the way home. She enjoyed her time in California but is very glad to be home in spite of the snowy, cold weather here in Indiana.
