Mishawaka Tops Glenn Girls By 64-44 Monday The John Glenn girls basketball team returned to action Monday as they traveled to Mishawaka for a game postponed from earlier this season. After a very tight first half which found the Lady Falcons down by only two, 30-28, Mishawaka broke it wide open in the second half to winning going away 64-44. The loss dropped Glenn’s record to 3-5 on the season and Mishawaka advanced to 6-3 for the year. Again it was the senior trio of Theresa Northam, Angie McKesson and Jennifer Price holding the Lady Falcons in the game in the first half. Going to the foul line 24 times, and converting on 16, the Glenn team had Mishawaka in some foul trouble and trailed by two at the main intermission. However, it all turned around in the second half. Behind their two big scores, Whitney Love and Shelly Johnson, the Cavewomen outscored Glenn 14-4 in the third period with Love getting eight and Johnson six while lone baskets were picked up by Northam and Salyer for Glenn. It was 44-32 after three and it just got worse in the final eight minutes as th^ hosts won going away 64-44. Love and Johnson ended with 20 and 18 respectively for the winners and they had no fewer than 10 girls score in the victory. Glenn was led by Northam with 18, McKesson । had 12 and Pace 7. all in the first half from the foul line before getting in foul trouble and eventually

fouling out. It was another cold shooting night for the Glenn girls, hitting only 13 out of 47 for 27.6 percent while the victors hit half their shots. 26 of 52 in the victory . They also outrebounded Glenn 33-24 in this game. B-Team lose* Again The Glenn B-Team dropped their eighth straight decision of the year by a 31-17 score. With the win Mishawaka moved to 3-7 for the season. Unlike the traditional honor roll system, which is based upon a single grading period, this letter system will be based upon the students' cumulative high school record. Another unique feature of this system is that it "weighs” certain classes at John Glenn as being more difficult than others and points are awarded accordingly. For regular classes, a semester grade of an "A” is worth two points and a "B” is worth one point. For most college preparatory classes, a semester grade of an "A” is worth four points and a 1 ”B” is worth two points. No 1 points are awarded for grades lower than a "B”. Sophomores will be awarded a letter if they accumulate at least 30

points by the end of their third semester. Juniors must earn at least 40 points by the end of their fifth semester for a letter. Seniors will be awarded a letter this year if they would have qualified as a sophomore or junior. Freshmen are not eligible for a letter because they do not have an extensive high school record yet. Current underclassmen will have the opportunity to win pins and medallions in future years to attach to their letters. By recognizing students who have consistently put forth their best effort throughout high school. John Glenn hopes to make one more step toward achieveing its goal of academic excellence.
