NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR ACQUISITION OF COMMUNITY STATE BANK Liberty Bancorp, Inc., Hammond. Indiana, intends to apply to the Federal Reserve Board for permission to acquire a bank. Francis J. Klingerman Francis J. Klingerman. 60. of 914 Ohio Street, died at 10:20 a m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born on May 3. 1925, in Tyner. On May 16, 1947, he married the former Iris Pittman, who survives. He was employed at Bendix Corp, for 29 years. Also surviving are three sons. Randy, of Mishawaka. Curt, of Walkerton, and Scott, at home: three granddaughters; a sister. Merriam Ullery. of South Bend; a half sister. Violet Chapman, of South Bend; and three brothers. Arthur, of Lakeville, Marvin, of Tyner, and Ralph, of Warrenton, Oregon. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. D. O. Van Dyne officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Mr. Klingerman was a Navy veteran of World War 11 and a member of Local 9 of the United Auto Workers. LAVERNE YOUNG LaVern Young. 56, Rural Route S, Walkerton, passed away at 1:01 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after a two and a half year illness. He was born on October 27, 1929, in Leiters Ford and he lived in Walkerton for 32 years. He married Ethelyn Gressley, in Plymouth, of October 18, 1953, who survives. He was retired from Allis-Chalmers, in LaPorte and was an Army veteran of World War 11. Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Edward and Jerry, both of Koontz Lake; a daughter, Penny Sweeney, Koontz Lake; four grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Mazy Young, Rochester; three brothers, Ernest, South Bend, Richard, Culver, and Gerald, Rochester; and two sisters, Ronnie Ricks, Francisville, and Shirley Hanewich. Wheatfield. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Rannell’s Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with Rev. Lloyd George officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. HELEN E. KESLER Helen E. Kesler. 72. of 62390

Crumstown Highway, North Liberty, passed away at 5:50 p.m,, on Friday, December 27, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on September 22, 1913, in Boswell, Indiana, and she had lived in North Liberty since 1957, coming from Monon. In 1963 as Helen Meyer, she married Claude Kesler, who preceded her in death. Surviving is a son, Condo D. (Butch) Kesler, at home; two stepsons, Roger Kesler, North Liberty, and Kenneth Kesler, Indiana; four step-grandchildren; three sisters, Inez Sims and Irene Bertram, both of Monticello, and Uma Flasbrook, Rensselear; and a brother, Paul Meyer, Seymour. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, Indiana, with burial in St. James Cemetery, Reynolds. The A. M. Manuel Funeral Home. North Liberty, was in charge of the arrangements. ANNA M. ALLEN Anna M. Allen, 92, of Canterbury Manor Nursing Home, Rochester, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She was born on July 27, 1893, in Leesburg and had lived in Kewanna before moving to Winamac where she lived most of her life. In December 1919, she married George Metz, who preceded her in death on November 3, 1935. In 1942 she married George Allen who preceded her in death on December 18, 1949. Surviving are two sisters, Bertha Urbin, Walkerton, and Ruth Hughes, South Bend; and a brother, Grover Metzger, South Bend. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with burial in Winamac Cemetery. HARRY E. PEHRSON Harry E. Pehrson, 91, of Miller’s Merrv Manor, Plymouth, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, after an illness. He was born on July 4. 1894, in Chicago, Illinois, and he lived at Koontz Lake for 45 years coming from Chicago. He was retired from the Chicago Police Department and Studebaker Corp., of South Bend. He married Alice Locke in Chicago, who preceded him in death in 1965. He was a naval veteran of World War 1 and a charter member of the Koontz Lake Conservation Gub. Surviving is a daughter, Irene Gjemre, of Walkerton; a son. Bill, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with Pastor James McGee officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. LEO R. EDWARDS Leo R. "Cannonball” Edwards, 77, of Rural Route 4, Walkerton, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Saturdav, December 21. in his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born on June 21, 1908, to James and Clara Smith Edwards, in Marshall County. He lived in the area most of his life. He was retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad. Surviving is a daughter-in-law, Ruth Edwards, of Kentucky. One son, Cecil, preceded him in death. Services were held at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel, Plymouth. MISS WILLADEAN TINKEY Miss Willadean Rose Tinkey, 58, of Rural Route 1, Box 141, Walkerton, formerly of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away at 2:07 am., on Wednesday, December 25. at her home following a sudden illness. She was born on August 1, 1927, in Walkerton to Charles L. and Faye Bernice (Spaid) Tinkey. She had lived in Walkerton since November 8. 1985, coming from

Falls Church, Virginia. She was a U. S. Marine veteran of Korea and she was a waitress and cook. Surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Pauline) Walter and Mrs. Orlo (Regina) Bussie, both of Walkerton, Mrs. Joyce M. Boekhoff. South Gate, California, Mrs. Keith (Carol) Lewis, Nekoosa. Wisconsin, Ms. Gaynale F. Wandrey and Ms. Lana A. Kohler, both of New Buffalo, Michigan. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. Thomas M. Bowman, pastor of the Walkerton United Methodist Church, officiating. Place remaining walnuts in blender or food processor along with garlic, basil, parsley, marjoram, salt and the 1/4 cup oil. Blend or process until mixture is fine; add cheese and blend again. If storing overnight or longer, place mixture into a jar, spoon an additional teaspoon oil over top; cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Makes about 2/3 cup pesto. Pasta with Walnut Petto Cook 8 ounces of any type pasta as package directs; drain well. While hot, toss with 1/3 to 1 *2 cup Walnut Pesto. Add reserved 1/3 cup walnuts and 1 “2 cup small cubes Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese; toss gently, adding a tablespoon or two of butter if a richer sauce is desired. Serve topped with a sprinkling of grated Romano or Parmesan cheese. Makes 4 servings pasta. Vananon For a change of pace, cook two different kinds of pasta such as spinach noodles and spaghetti. Toss together or separately with the pesto.
