Argos Runs Away From Falcons In Title Gamo 83*52 The Argos Dragons wasted little time in letting everyone know who was going to be the victor in the final game of the Culver Holiday Tourney Friday night. The Dragons put together a near-perfect ballgame, playing a fine game on all fronts, to blast the John Glenn Falcons 83-52 to break a three-year domination of Glenn in the holiday tourney. Argos, who hadn’t won a game in this tourney for several years, looked more like the Argos teams that gained so much acclaim in the late 70’s and very early 80's not only in our area, but on a state

level, as they executed the way coach Phil Weybright wanted them to. With this fine performance, they completely dominated the play as the game was never in doubt. The loss was Glenn's fourth in seven starts as coach Gordon Mosson’s young Falcon team still needs experience and maturity. It was the sixth victory in seven starts for Argos, a loser only to Oregon-Davis this season. It took very little time for the domination to be obvious. With their inside men of Kip Bailey. Steve Powell and Jeff Shivers on the receiving end of some fine floor play by Brian Jennings and Roger Grossman, the Dragons jumped off to an 11 -0 lead before the Falcons could break the ice and then a very cool 3-9 shooting for the first quarter for Glenn found them on the far distant end of a 25-6 score after one period. It didn’t improve in the second period either. With Argos continuing to play great team basketball, and the Falcons not able to contain their attack, they moved on to a 43-20 haftime margin. For all practical purposes, the game was over early in the first half. Glenn’s young team didn’t give up. but the odds were too heavily stacked against them. Coach Weybright let his regulars play most of the third quarter before he turned the game over to his bench and by the end of three it was 62-36. It

was just a matter of playing out the time as the Dragons moved to the final margin of 83-52. Powell and Bailey, the power inside, scored 23 and 20 respectively in their three quarters or less of action. Bob Litchenbergcr came off the bench to hit 12 and Jeff Shivers had 11 as all four of these inside men had field days against Glenn s defense. All ten Dragon players scored in this game. The Falcons had three in double figures for the game with Troy Skiles finishing with 12 and Wes Pavey and Chris Savoie each hitting 10 points. Nine of the 10 Falcons managed to hit the scoring column in this final action for three weeks for Glenn.
