UREY BASKETBALLS RESULTS The seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams resumed season play on Wednesday by traveling to Argos. The seventh grade boys pulled together in the second half by outscoring Argos 19-2 in time to finish with a victory of 33-11. John Johnson and Kick O'Connor led all scorers with 10 points each; John Bryan and Brain Norris scored four and three points respectively. Bryan led both teams in rebounding with 10 while Johnson and Kevin Winger reached for eight and four. The eighth graders also pulled together in the second half, however. fell short of a victory by a score of 41-30. Kandy Pontius led the Falcons with 15 points and

seven rebounds. Steve Rhodes contributed 11 points. Chad Strang grabbed four rebounds and Jerrv Beem pulled down three. Last Thursday evening the Urey boys teams traveled to Culver where they found two teams that didn’t give up. The seventh grade team triumphed 33-25. The Falcons were led in scoring by John Johnson with 10 points and Kick O'Connor with nine. Johnson led in rebounds with 11 while John Bryan had four. The eighth grade, in their best effort of the season, came up short. 55-45. Randy Pontius pumped in 21 points while grabbing six rebounds. Chris Stull scored 10 and led the team in rebounding with 14; Steve Rhodes contributed six
points and eight rebounds and Chad Strang had six rebounds. On Saturday the Urey Boys traveled to North Liberty to compete in the tourney. The seventh graders invaded the premises first beating North Liberty 47-30. Then winning the championship game, 45-33. Ten different players were able to score for the Falcons. Ricky O’Connor led Urey in scoring for the day with 20 points followed by Jimmy Seiders who had 17, John Johnson 15 and John Bryan 13. Every player contributed and displayed a good team effort and a lot of hard work. Congratulations boys! The eighth grade made believers out of North Liberty as they battled to the finish. Urey never gave up and fought hard to keep it close, however, scarcely missing a victory 34-28. Randy Pontius led the Falcons with 12 while Charles Winger and Chris Stull scored seven and four respectively. The boys played well. SENIOR CITIZEN BOWLING NEWS The Senior bowlers turned out in goodly numbers for a real "fun" session this past week. With the season almost half over, the competition is really growing. There were 17 ladies making those pins fall. High scratch game went to Betty Schrader with a 157. Doris Crane's 147 was followed by Helen Bowman. June Lind and Gale Mavfield with 145 each. Doris Crane and Betty Schrader shared high handicap game honors with a 218 total for each. June Lind was
just behind with a 21 7 . Ann Labno took the high series honors with an even 400 total. You can bet they’re all looking forward to next week’s bowling session! With lb gents bowling, you know that there was some real close races going all during the session. There were so many spectacular "pick-up" efforts made that there isn’t enough space to record them! Harold Schweder rolled the high scratch game of 204. Marion Anderson’s 1% and Stan Labno’s 193 kept Harold on his toes. Stan Labno bowled the high handicap game of 235. Not far behind was Dick Crane who tied with Harold

Schweder's 225 total. Just behind them was Marion Anderson and Dick Ward with 224 totals. High series went to Marion Anderson with a nice 542, followed by Harold Schweder’s 507 and Dick Crane’s 506. Nice bowling, you "young" seniors! Dick Dipert was our only spectator this week! Glad to have him out to support us. Remember, the Seniors resume senior citizens bowling on Wednesday, January 8, 1986. at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T. Come join us in the new year!
