Ohio, with 19 members of the group with whom they toured western Europe this past summer. Everyone enjoyed sharing photos and slides from the trip and hearing of other activities of group members since their return to the states. Rainy weather caused a river cruise to be cancelled, but a visit to the magnificent Toledo Museum of Art and the Libby-Owens glass display added extra pleasure to the weekend. Mrs. David Knowlton held a party on Sunday afternoon for Michele's and David Michael's birthdays. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Knwolton, North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Don Nowatzke and Dorcie. Mrs. Shirley Lute, Robin and Torey, Mrs. Sarah Nunley. Susan and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. David Drews and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Knowlton and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton. Lisa Dankert. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Gerhart and sons on Sunday, November 3. They helped Jeremy celebrate his fourth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker returned home this past weekend after spending a week in Florida visiting with friends and relatives. At Homestead they visited their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Carla) Achor and at Pine Island they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Reed and Mr. and Mrs. John Easterday. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery were in South Bend to attend the wedding of her nephew, Mark Clindaniel, of Hanna. Mrs. Florence Anderson, of Knox, also attended the wedding with the Ullerys and was an overnight guest. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst accompanied by Mrs. Mamie Hahn. Nora Hahn, Esther Kaufman and Mary Jane Beaty enjoyed the travelogue on Brazil which was given on Monday evening in South Bend. Mrs. Elva Ballauss, of Aurora. Illinois, was a weekend guest of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Fenstermacher. They became friends while Irving in Alaska. On Tuesday of last week, four sisters of the Goodenough family from New Carlisle and Three Oaks. Michigan, came to visit Miss Ethel Bierly. Three of the sisters had been students of Ethel's when she taught at Maple Grove School at New Carlisle, and she stayed with the Goodenough family while teaching there. This was a very special day for Ethel and will always be remembered. On Sunday. November 3. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith were Sunday dinner guests of their son, Tom and family, in Mishawaka. This was a celebration dinner for Sidney’s birthday, featuring Sidney’s favorite, chocolate birthday cake. Sidney loves chocolate cake and wound up with four of them for his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Ivancevich will be hosts on Saturday evening for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting at 5:00 p.m. C.S.T. C.S.T.
A dinner was enjoyed Sunday in honor of Mamie Hahn's 90th birthday with 43 present at the Community Building to extend birthday greetings and wish her many more happy birthdays. She received many beautiful gifts and cards. Mrs. Hahn enjoys good health and trys to get the most out of life. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stickley and Mrs. Thelma Watts were in Hamlet on Sunday at the home of Max Hardesty, where a dinner was given with the honored guest being Mrs. Audrey Barnhart, of Nevado, Ohio, who has been visiting her relatives for several days and was to return home on Monday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jacob and family were in Angola over the weekend to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Jacob. Ernie Smith Is Plant Manager At lowa Plant p Ernie Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Smith, 203 Maple Street, Walkerton, was named plant manager at the Dyersville, lowa plant of Modernfold, where Spacesetter
panels are produced by the company. Smith has been with the company for 26 years. He started with Modernfold in their Walkerton plant in 1959, known as P\ro Electric in the Woodmaster Door division. He is a graduate of Walkerton High School. Smith moved from Walkerton to Scottsville. Kentucky, when Modernfold moved from Walkerton in 1964 and in 1975 they moved to Dyersville where he began as a hot press operator and has worked in many phases of the production as well as purchasing of the company. He became plant manager in 1976. Ernie and his wife, Janice, have two children, Connie, who is married and the mother of two, and Lorin, age 14.
