On Sunday, September 22, Mr. and Mrs. Kriss High had a carry-in dinner for Mr. and Mrs. John (Terri High) Flanagan, of Mishawaka. Present were Mike High and son. of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frazier and Ramona Frazier, of West Lafayette. They celebrated Ramona's 19th birthday with a beautifully decorated cake from Dainty Maid. Carolee Epperson and daughter, Jill, of Lake Station, spent Sunday afternoon here with her mother, Mrs. Esther Kaufman. Mr. and Mrs. John Solmos spent the weekend in Indianapolis with Mr. and Mrs. Larry McDaniel and daughter, Michelle. This was also a birthday celebration for Michelle’s 16th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Burch will serve as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting on Saturday. Members and their guests arc welcome to join the fun and fellowship. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Goss, of Silver Springs, Maryland, are spending five days here at Koontz Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert.

Mr. Robert Hass, of California, is here at his mother’s apartment for some time while she is in the hospital. Mrs. Bess Ferverda remains in the LaPorte Hospital and is very ill. George Pfeiffer’s 90th birthday was celebrated at Tiebel’s Restaurant, Dyer, Indiana, hosted by his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. T. Jerome, of Griffith. There were relatives from many places and all five grandchildren and families; great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren were present. A delicious dinner was served with lovely music provided by his grandson-in-law, Tom, a talented pianist. A wonderful time was had by all and a time for picture taking was enjoyed. Mr. Roger Whitaker, of Crown Point, spent Sunday in Walkerton, with his mother, Mrs. Ethel Fields. Mr. and Mrs. John Cowger were in Knightstown, Indiana, Wednesday, to attend the Farm Progresss Show which drew a huge attendance and on Saturday they were in Roselle, Illinois, to attend a wedding of a cousin. from visiting relatives in Michigan. In Jackson she visited with Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor; in Bloomfield, with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Anderson; and in Monroe, with Mrs. Susan Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton spent Friday evening and Saturday in New Castle visiting with Miss Janet Knowlton. They also visited with Joni and Julie Knowlton, at Ball State University, Muncie. Saturday evening and Sunday they visited Mr. and Mrs. Gene Myers, at Union City. They all attended church services in Winchester where Rev. Mayflower is pastor. Mrs. Mildred Williams, of Plymouth, accompanied and visited with relatives in New Castle. They returned home on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wisler, of Hamlet, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery. In the afternoon they went to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Glade Rohrer, in Wakarusa, who are now residents of the Wakarusa Nursing Home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Anderson, of Pekin, Illinois, were here over the weekend visiting with Mrs. Nellie Smith and all the members of her family. The Andersons stayed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warner Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kendall, of Granger, were Sunday dinner guests of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weller. Mrs. Bertha L'rbin was in South Bend last Tuesday to visit with her brother. Mr. G. E. Metzger and her sister, Mrs. Ruth Hughes. Mrs. Goldie Skinner. Mrs. Viola Barden, Mrs. Wayne Roush and daughter Paula, and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Barden attended the wedding of Joseph Reed, in Michigan City, on Saturday, at the St. Lutheran Church. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Freeman were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Baughman, in Bremen. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman and Theda Carlson, of South Bend, enjoyed dinner on Sunday at the popular Kopper Kettle, Bremen. They were so surprised to learn that the Morrises, who used to run a restaurant in North Liberty,

opened the Kopper Kettle the first of September. They also stopped to visit Harry Kanes, their old neighbors, who had moved from the Potato Creek Park area too and learned that Wanda had just returned home from the hospital after undergoing surgery the week before. Mr. and Mrs. Max Steele returned Sunday from a three week trip to Bellingham, Washington, where they visited their son, Richard M. Steele, and his wife, Nancy, with whom thev also spent two days in Victoria. British Columbia, enjoying the famous Butchart Gardens and the old English atmosphere of the area. Enroute stops were made in Seattle to visit Mrs. Noah Rensberger and Dr. and Mrs. John M. Rensberger; in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to visit daughter, Nancy Brzycki, and family; and in Lakewood, Colorado, to call on Judge and Mrs. Joseph E. Maker.
