Enjoy First Fall Meeting Os Local Business Women A chop suey dinner at the Presbyterian Church, on Thursday, September 26, at 7:00 p.m., was served by the ladies of the church, prior to the first fall meeting of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. An opening verse was read by the club president, Mrs. Karen Johnson, with the table prayer following. Roses of appreciation were given by Mrs. Johnson to Vylet Baker and Mrs. Helen Kennedy. treasurer. Mrs. Pauline Baughman, gave the financial report. Letters were read including a thank you note from Lisa Rosander, our scholarship recipient; a thank you from the Koontz Lake Festival Committee and one from Nancy Elkin. The club voted on having an afghan raffle at the December meeting with Mrs. Martha Mull providing the afghan. The upcoming second annual Fall Festival, in Walkerton, was discussed with the members being encouraged to be sure and attend, October 18 and 19. Committees for the year were announced by the president. Games were played with Martha Mull receiving the door prize and a prize for the purse game as well as Debbie Kieper; Verice Walz for the story of a little gift and the other game winners were Sharon Baker,
June Baker, Marge Buswell and Mary Sester each receiving the lovely live flower centerpieces. Serving on the committee for the evening chaired by the president were Evelyn Lee, Jean Cole, Myrna Daube, Sue Urbin, Darlene Pontius, Verda Karn. Pauline Baughman. Carol Beem and Cleo Awald. The October meeting will be held on the 24th with Cheryl Flaugher as chairman. Serving with Mrs. Flaugher will be Marge Buswell, Ellen Mollenhauer, Leah Pickavet, Gladys Prentis, Ann Denaut, Ann Miller, Helen Heymig, Lillian Janovic, Helen Kennedy, Alfreda Onika. Cheryl Rizek and Mary Ann Frame. SENIOR CITIZEN BOWLING NEWS The Senior Bowlers enjoyed another fine afternoon of bowling and fun with a total of 11 ladies, 14 gentlemen and three spectators in attendance to cheer as the pins fell. The ladies high handicap game was rolled by Stephanie Kiiarski, with a 242 game. High scratch game of 157 was rolled by Helen Bowman, who also accumulated the high series of 415. Several of the ladies improved their handicaps by a few pins and all had lots of good exercise and fun. The gents were treated to a nice showing by Harold Schweder, who took all the scoring honors. Harold rolled the high scratch game with a 222, high series with 589 and high handicap game with 252, for a fine afternoon of bowling! He’s setting a high standard for the group to follow. Our octogenarian, Paul Dampts, had a fine 551 series, just proving “Older Bowlers Don’t Fade Away, They Just Keep Rolling Those Strikes And Spares’" Many more Senior Bowlers can be accomodated and will help fill up the lanes. Come on out and enjoy the fun and exercise every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Walkerton Lanes! WIN coupon books are on sale at area merchants in Walkerton and Koontz Lake.
