Some of the fun things the scouts do are going camping, going fishing, going on hikes, clean up roadsides, earn special awards, be with fellow scouts and lots of other fun things. In London there was a man named General Badon Powell, he was going on a business trip but there was so much fog that he didn’t know where he was going, so he got under a street light to locate himself, and out of nowhere came a boy in a uniform. The boy asked if
he could be of any service and General Powell said yes and the boy took him to where he was going. When they arrived General Powell reached into his pocket to give the young boy a tip, but the boy stopped him and said no thanks. I’m a Scout. Powell stopped and thought a moment and then asked the boy, “What is a scout?’’ The boy told him and Powell said that after his business meeting that he would like to talk to the boy on scouting. So after they met the boy took Powell to the scout office and they explained more to him about scouting. So when General Powell returned to the United States he brought something of great value with him. The Boy Scouts of America. In London there is a statue in honor of the young men who were scouts, boys doing one good turn that helped out millions ofboys. SERVICE NOTES HOMETOWN NEWS — Michael B.
