Funding For New Cabins At Potato Creek Funding for the establishment of six to eight new cabins at Potato Creek State Park was approved by the State Budget Committee July 24, clearing the way for construction at the northern Indiana recreational facility to begin, according to State Senator V. Richard Miller (R-Plymouth). The $720,000 state appropriation will be used to build year-round family cabins similar to the park's nine existing rental cottages. According to a state Department of Natural Resources spokesman, completing is scheduled for the summer of 1986. “Vacation cottages the park now provides are very popular with Potato Creek visitors, with the demand for cabins often times exceeding the availability”, Miller commented. “Adding these new cabins will further enhance an already popular facility". Cabins currently available at Potato Creek are 1,400 square feet and designed to accomodate eight persons comfortably. The rentals are fully furnished, requiring only food, dining utensils and linens to be supplied by the guests. This appropriation, and all other spending approvals made Wednesday, July 24 by the five-member State Budget Committee have previously been approved by the Indiana General Assembly, Senator Miller explained.
