reports it being an entirely different experience for her and said that her grandchildren loved every minute of it. Mrs. Elizabeth Martin and her granddaughter, Barbara Hostetler, arrived home Saturday evening from a two week visit with Mrs. Duane Rhodes and family, in Lewisville, Texas. The trip was made by plane and was a very pleasant one but the two weeks in Texas was very hot and dry. Mrs. Grant Steele fell on Saturday evening and as a result of the fall she is now in the LaPorte Hospital and underwent surgery on Sunday morning. Her room number is 4237. Mrs. Margaret Frame returned home on Saturday after a week visit in Meadow Bridge. West Virginia, where she visited with her sisters and brothers. They were here to attend the wedding of Miss Pamela Stanley and John Paige, of Elkhart. Mrs. Ruth Dipert, of Walkerton, was pleasantly surprised on Sunday evening with homemade ice cream and cake, in celebration of her 90th birthday, brought in by Mr. and Mrs. Clell Fouts, Mrs. Hazel Arseneau and Lynn Borton, of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. John Markle and daughter, Patty, of North Liberty. Virgil Myers returned to his home on Monday, July 22, from the LaPorte Hospital, and is reported as doing well. On Sunday a cookout with 42 guests was held, those attending from away were the Brian Lowrys, Mr. Orrin Farles, of Indianapolis, and Mr. Russell Kissler, of Warsaw. Mr. Farles and Mr. Kissler were both college friends of Mr. Lowry. Mr. Farles was a weekend guest of the Lowrys. Thursday luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman were Mrs. Marie Schweisberger, Mrs. Dale Young and Mrs. Marlene Hueni, of Bremen; Mrs. Duwaine Baughman, Mrs. Edna Knepp and Mrs. Ray Albright, of North Liberty; and Mrs. Fred Schultz and son, Stacy, of Chesterfield, Missouri. Mrs. Homard Rumley, of West York, is a surgical patient in the LaPorte Hospital. Mrs. Jane Hockett is a surgical patient in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn and Catherine, took a three-day trip to Canada last week. Sandra Youdbulis and Tammy came July 4th and flew back Sunday morning to California after spending ten days with her mother, Martha Young, and friends. Her grandson, Thomas Youdbulis also came to spend a few days and to visit friends. He will fly back to California later this week. Mrs. Fred Shultz and daughter, Stacy, of Chesterfield, Missouri, left on Tuesday after spending nine days here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman. Mrs. Marlene Bodine and Russell, of Van Nuys, California, spent four days here with the Mastermans recently. On Sunday a pot luck dinner was held at the Masterman home with Mr. and Mrs. Al Fenkner and sons, of Kirkland, Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Faber and daughter, of Argos; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Faber and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Masterman, of Plymouth; Mrs. Joe Yocum and daughter, of Bremen; and Mrs. Fred Schultz and Stacy present. Mr. and Mrs. Travis Holmes entertained on Wednesday evening for their son, Michael, who was celebrating his 18th birthday. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rauen, Mrs. Ethel Holmes, Jerry Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman. A beautiful cake all decorated by Mildred Morris and given to Michael for his birthday was enjoyed by all along with ice cream and coffee. Michael received many cards and some gifts. SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY A surprise 65th birthday party for Richard Murphy was held on Saturday evening, at his home. A delicious supper was served and many gag gifts were received and enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Gale Shetland, of Walkerton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 28. There will be on open house at the United Methodist Church, 1000 Georgia Street, Walkerton, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friends and family members are invited and the couple requests no gifts, please. Mr. Shetland and Lois Poole Bellinger were married on July 28, 1935, in Walkerton. They are both lifetime residents of Walkerton. Mr. Shetland retired from Studebaker Corp, in 1963 after working there for 27 years. The couple has two children, Mrs. Lou Ann Biederstadt, of LaPorte, and Charles, of Walkerton and they have four grandchildren. Eighteen friends, relatives and neighbors from the surrounding area attended as well as from Brookfield, Clarenden Hills and Glen Ellen, Illinois. Visiting and games were enjoyed after which Mary opened her many lovely and useful gifts. Next year's reunion will be held on July 20, 1986, at the same location. MARY ULLERY RETIRES FROM WELLS ALUM. Mary Ullery retired from Weils Aluminum Corporation after 14.4 years of service. HEIM REUNION The annual Heim Reunion was held on Sunday, July 7, at Potawatomi Park, South Bend with 80 people present.
