Mr. and Mrs. Alan Shively and family, of Hamlet; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson were Sunday supper guests of the David Shivelys. On Sunday evening a surprise 25th wedding anniversary party was given at the Stuntz-Hochstetler Pines for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams with 90 guests attending. A pot luck dinner was served at 5:00 p.m. with a beautiful anniversary cake made by Mrs. Mildred Hostetler. Hosts for the affair were the "Goofey Birthday Bunch" with guests coming from Bremen, Plymouth. South Bend and Walkerton. Mrs. Lyle Roush made the decorative mints for the party. A money tree was given to the couple along with many other gifts and the party was a real surprise to the Williams. Miss Diane Garwood was confirmed on Sunday, October 28. at the Bethany Lutheran Church, in LaPorte, by Rev. Marvin Carlson. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Garwood, of LaPorte. A dinner was held for her with her godparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Niendorf present as well as Mrs. Myrtle Garwood, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schroder and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Garwood, all of LaPorte; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitmer, of North Liberty; and Brian and David Garwood, of West Lafayette, at the home of her parents. She received many gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber were Tuesday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Gerhart and sons, in Kingsford Heights, it was Jeremy’s third birthday. Laden and Jeremy spent Halloween with their grandparents and enjoyed the town’s party and trick or treating. An enjoyable evt^g was had by all. Mrs. Viola Brcgi and Mrs. Mary Bottema were guests of honor at a luncheon held last Wednesday in the home of Mrs. Al Holmquist, Koontz Lake. Mrs. Bregi is celebrating her 80th birthday and Mrs. Bottema is leaving Koontz Lake for her new home in Mokena, Illinois. Other guests were Marjorie Clark, Lorena Briggs. Edna Lipke, Alice Gedgoud, LaVerne Dini and Evelyn Schmidt, members of the Koontz Lake "Knitwits”, a crafts group which has been active for more than 20 years. Mrs. Harriett Jefferies and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Nowakowski will serve as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting on Saturday evening, at the clubhouse. Mr. and Mrs. John Markle, North Liberty, were in Rensselaer last Thursday visiting with their sister-in-law, Marion Markle, who recently had surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wright, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, spent the weekend in Walkerton visiting with his mother, Mrs. Helen Wright. Mrs. Vylet Baker is a patient in the LaPorte Hospital. Mrs. Caroline Danielewski, of the 76 apartments, was a surgical patient in the LaPorte Hospital last week but was released on Saturday and is home recovering nicely. Mrs. Norma Corbett remains in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend. Francis Laßere is a patient in the intensive care unit of Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hardy, of Niles, Michigan, were callers on friends recently around Walkerton and visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Clell Fouts.
Mr. Stanley Gryb. Koontz Lake, was released from St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, last Thursday and is now at home. Friends and relatives from Illinois were here to see him over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. John Markle. North Liberty, spent the weekend at the second annual American International Livestock Exposition which was held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. Louisville, Kentucky. A baby shower was given on Sundav afternoon at Stuntz-Hoch-‘etler Pines for Mrs. Gregory ^‘’iatns, of South Bend. The table were decorated in yellow and green v ith cake, coffee and punch being st-ved. Hostesses were Mrs. Nedra Williams and Mrs. Della Egger. Mrs. Lyle Roush made the decorative party mints. WALKERTON TRASH AND LEAF PICK-UP NOVEMBER 12 The fall pick-up of leaves and trash will be held the week of November 12 for the Town of Walkerton. Children Enjoy Halloween Party At Koontz Lake Witches, spacemen, goblins, ballerinas, skeletons and clowns joined other costume children for Halloween treats and contests at the Koontz Lake fire station, Wednesday evening. Prizes were awarded in six age groups: 1-3, Casey Flynn, Channon Wagers. Chad Matusiak; 4 6, Justin Graddy, Ritchie Rose. Jamie Graham; 7-9, Tony Bell, Mindy Shock, Sandy Flynn; 10-12 Lisa Armentrout, Carlos Bastardo, Bryan Graddy; 13-15, Brett Lott, Steve Wheat. Angie Dranenburg; 16 and up. Penny Bell and Ken vvoodrun. Presentations were also given to Tony Bell, Casey Flynn and Justin Graddy for the most original costumes. Drawings for door prizes were awarded to Missy Millice, Bobbie Winkelman. Angel Bell, Marla Urban, Amanda Graham, Penny Bell. Greg Vitali and Jimmy Daley. Judges for the event were Cindy Yelacich, Evelyn Schmidt and Merle Schaunaman. Clifford Allen was coordinator of the party, assisted by Koontz lake firemen, who were hosts for this annual treat. The Koontz Lake Firemen’s Auxiliary provided the many goodies given to the young people. Gary Ekart. Indiana State Police trooper, was on "Pumpkin Patrol" duty. The evening ended for the child ren with a ride on the firetruck with lights flashing and sirens sounding. The Koontz Lake firemen and Auxiliary are to be complimented for sponsoring this event. MEMBER OF THE BALL STATE MARCHING BAND Wendell Rohrer. Walkerton, is among the members of the Ball State University Marching Band. The director is Joseph R. Scagnoli of the 130 member band which performs at halftime of the home football games as well as at Monu ment Circle and the Hoosier Dome, in Indianapolis. Rohrer, a graduate of John Glenn High School, is a sophomore and plays the baritone. His major is music education and his parents are Dr. and Mrs. Bryce Rohrer. TO OFFER CPR CLASSES A three-session cardiopulmonary resuscitation. CPR class will be conducted at LaPorte Hospital’s Health Quarters, 919 Lincolnway. from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.
