Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lemert, LaPaz. will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House on Sunday, October 28, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., at the Tyner Odd Fellows Hall. Mr. Lemert and the former Martha Kesler were married October 27, 1934, at Plymouth. They have made their home in the Teegarden and LaPaz area and are now residents of Minong, Wisconsin, and Mission, Texas. Mr. Lemert

Valerie Renee Wise and Derrick Martin Adkins were united in marriage on September 22, at the First Baptist Church, Walkerton, with pastor D. O. Van Dyne, officiating at the double-ring ceremony. Music was provided by Thelma Hostetler. Mother of the bride is Beverly Hook, of Gary and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin D. Adkins. North Liberty. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Dwain Wise. Jodie Wolfenbarger, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Serving as best man was Ty Fischer, friend of the groom. Marc Adkins, brother of the groom, was usher. The wedding reception was held

The open house will be hosted by the couple’s four children, Larry, of North Liberty; Mrs. Joe (Sally) Bottorff; Mrs. James (Kay) Williams, both of Rural Plymouth; and Fred, of Lakeville. They also have 12 grandchildren. No invitations have been issued, but all friends and relatives are invited. The couple request no gifts, please.

Henry Ford Named Asst. Vice-President At Local Bank
'Abt 3^ 0 a ^NL Henry Ford has been elected assistant vice-president of Farmers State Bank of Wyatt. He began his career in 1961 with the Bank of Geneva, in Monroe, Indiana. He served as vice-president for 13 Board of Directors. Ford received his Associate Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from International College, Fort Wayne, in 1961. He has a certificate from attending the two year Indiana Banker’s Association Agriculture School. He has attended various classes throughout his banking career. He has been actively involved in community projects and has served on several committees. While residing in Bremen, Ford was an umpire this summer for Bremen softball. He has his license from the American Softball Association. Ford, his wife Sondra, and two sons, will soon be residing in Bremen.

Capper, Jr., son of Robert L. an Gracie Clapper, of 1303 Ohio St., Walkerton, has graduated from the aerial surveillance sensor repair course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. During the year-long course, the student was taught basic electronics, camera repair, airborne radar operation, infrared radar training and data link operations. ARMY AND AIR FORCE HOMETOWN NEWS — Second Lt. Bruce A. Allen, son of John R. and Dolores M. Allen, of Rural Route 3. Walkerton, has graduated from the Euro-NATO joint jet pilot training program at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. The one-year program trains U. S. Air Force pilots with pilots from 11 other nations, so they may function well in an operational situation. ARMY AND AIR FORCE HOMETOWN NEWS — Airman Derry A. Brantley, son of Jackie Frazier, of Rural Route 1, Walkerton, and Kent Brantley, of Rural Route 1, Grovertown, has graduated from the U. S. Air Force medical material specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. During the course, students were taught the procedures necessary to operate an Air Force medical supply account. They also earned credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Brantley is scheduled to serve with the Air Force Hospital at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. He is a 1984 graduate of John
Glenn High School. Walkerton. September 26 (FHTNC) — Marine Lance Cpl. Cindy S. Wiltfong, daughter of Marsena B. Wiltfong, of 29943 Osborne Road, North Liberty. has been promoted to her present rank while serving with 3rd Force Service Support Group on Okinawa. ARMY AND AIR FORCE HOMETOWN NEWS — Rudy C. Leimbach, son of Herbert R. Leimbach, of 526 Mulberry St., Hammond, Ind., has been promoted in the U. S. Air Force to the rank of major. Leimbach is flight commander at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, with the 6594th Test Group. His wife. Connie, is the daughter of John Tramm, of Rural Route 3, Walkerton. He is a 1972 graduate of Purdue University. Hammond. ARMY AND AIR FORCE HOMETOWN NEWS — Pvt. Brett A. Kuchel, son of James E. and Sheila A. Kuchel, of Rural Route 1, Grovertown, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions. He is a 1984 graduate of Oregon - Davis High School, Hamlet.

ARMY AND AIR FORCE HOMETOWN NEWS — Army Pvt. Charles D. Skaggs, Jr., son of Don and Judy Skaggs, of Rural Route 1, Grovertown, is a member of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. Ky., participating in the multinational peacekeeping force and observers (MFO) as the primary U. S. Military contingent in the Sinai. The MFO, an independent agency responsible to the governments of Israel and Egypt, was established as a result of the 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty. The mission of the airborne unit is to operate checkpoints and observation posts, and conduct reconniassance patrols along the Sinai Peninsula. The peninsula is located on the southeast shores of the Mediterranean Sea and extends eastward from the Suez Canal to Israel and southward from the Mediterranean to the red seas. Skaggs is an infantryman at Fort Campbell. September 20 (FHTNC) — Marine Lance Cpl. Mark A. Roberts, son of Joe and Fran Roberts, of Rural Route 1, Walkerton, has been promoted to his present rank while serving with 3rd Force Service Support Group on Okinawa. James Madison was the shortest and lightest U.S. President at 5'4", 100 pounds.
