John Glenn’s volleyball team won their own invitational tourney on Saturday, October 6, by defeating Oregon-Davis and then Culver for the title. In the first match Culver played Knox with Culver winning 14-16, 15-12 and 9-7. The second match pitted Glenn against Oregon-Davis, Glenn winning 12-14, 15-5 and 15-6. In the consolation game Knox won over Oregon-Davis 14-11, 10-15 and 15-4. The championship game with Glenn and Culver found the Lady Falcons coming out on top by scores of 10-6 and 15-7. He performed in last year s drama production and is appearing this year in a leading role in “Bus Stop”. In addition he is a good student and excellent school citizen. NORTH LIBERTY VOLLEYBALL RESULTS The 7th grade volleyball team at North Liberty Middle School lost two matches last week against two strong teams. Tricia Zellers had 100 percent serving against Urey on Wednesday and Angie Mlekodaj was 14 of 15 but the consistent defensive play of the Urey Falcons brough them to victories over North Liberty 15-4 and 16-14. The Bth grade team lost in three hard fought games to a well coached and motivated Urey team. Scorers for Liberty were led by Rachelle Fisher and Dawn Gorby. The teams hosted Oregon-Davis on Thursday and the 7th grade team took another loss 15-5 and 15-4. Angie Mlekokaj and Melanie McCracken served 100 percent for the Falcons. The Bth grade team played strong fundamental volleyball demolishing O-D in two games 15-6 and 15-4. Scorers were again led by Dawn Gorby, Becky Fair and Rachelle Fisher. The 6th grade team won their second game Monday against Urey 15-10 and 15-5. Top servers were Jamie McCool and Christy Butler. Fine defensive plays were made by Shawn Hincky. FALCON BOOSTERS CLUB TO MEET TUESDAY The October meeting of the Falcon Boosters Club will be held on Tuesday, October 16, at the North Liberty School cafeteria. Plans will be finalized for the fall sports awards meeting. The ways and means committee will report on long range plans. Mr. Hostrawser will be the guest speaker and give a report on this year’s football program. Be sure to attend. Boost the benefit of athletics. Computer Donated To St. Patrick’s By American Door Computer classes will now be available at St. Patrick's Parochial Elementary School, Walkerton, thanks to American Door Co. and Russ and Doug Stooks, who donated an IBM computer to the school. The announcement was made Wednesday night by principal Sister Mary Clementine at a meeting of St. Patrick's Women's Cub. Jean Harris presided at the meeting when plans were made to compile a church directory for distribution in the spring. Sue Bradford reported the recent style show was a tremendous success and extended appreciation to everyone involved. Pat Cowger and Elaine Kwieran are in charge of the annual Christmas dinner and will make arrangements which will be announced at the November 7 meeting. Sunny Italy, South Bend, was one restaurant mentioned for consideration. Women interested in attending a day of prayer at the Sisters of the Most Holy Trinity, Adams Road, South Bend, on October 31, should call Carol Wielosinski, at 586-2377, for reservations. A car pool will leave at 8:00 a m. that morning in front of the church and return at 3:00 p.m. Each person should bring a dish to pass for the free will offering luncheon. The day is open to anyone interested. The program was an art exhibit by Sally Kaufman, from Superior Interiors. An oil painting was won by Robert Legge. Refreshments were served by Thelma Stachowski, Mary Ann McGwin and Jane Keefe.

Bake-A-Rama ’B4 Set For Wed., October 17 The annual St. Joseph County Bake-A-Rama will be held on Wednesday, October 17, with deadline for entries due at the County Extension office on October 12. There are several categories in the Bake-A-Rama for all non-professional bakers, male and female in St. Joseph County, to enter. You must be 18 years of age or older. Professionals are only allowed to enter in the decarated cakes category. Categories are frosted or glazed cakes; decorated cakes; non-pro-fessional; decoracted cakes, professional; yeast breads; quick breads; cookies and pies. Entry blanks are available at the St. Joseph County Extension office, 646 County-City Building, South Bend. All entries must be brought to the 4-H Fairgrounds between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. October 17. All entries exhibited will be sold after the competition of the judging. A grand prize and reserve prize for each category will be awarded along with ribbons and prize awards. First place ribbons will be awarded in each division. Winning entries will be sold but not released until 3:00 p.m. Wedding cakes are exempted from being
