Wanita Manuel won with a net 64. After play the girls all met in the outdoor shelter for a steak dinner and meeting. Special awards and prizes were given for the year. Most improved in stroke play was Ceceila Bryan, Most Improved in putts was Sally Wolfe, and Most Improved in Handicap was Betty Chapman. In championship flights. Wanita Manuel won the championship flight; Betty Chapman won the A flight; Barb Stickler, B flight; and Sandra Lemley the C flight. Plans were discussed for the 1985 Ladies Open to be Thursday, June 20th. Committees for this event are Joyce Lenczowski, general chairman; Sandra Lemley, breakfast; Barb Stickler, lunch and snacks; Joan Schmeltz. prizes; Betty Roesner, beverages; Lynn Toboiski, scoring; Barbara Lenczowski, publicity; Wanita Manuel, favors. A meeting will be held Saturday, January 19, at the home of Sally Pietrzak. Members will be notified of time. The Men’s Friday Nite League will have their final weekly play this Friday for the partner and point system. Friday, October 6. they will have a Scramble followed with a cookout and awards for the year. GLENN VOLLEYBALLERS TOP CULVER AND O-D The Glenn girls volleyball team upped their season record to 8-3 with wins over Culver Community and Oregon-Davis. In the Culver game, Glenn won by scores of 13-9 and 15-2. Most accurate server was Julie Knowlton with six out of six and she also had the most passes. 10. Angie Albertsen had six kills and the best passing average with a 2.60 rating. Angie McKesson had the most sets, 18. The win raised Glenn to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Culver is 4-4 on the year and 1-1 in conference play. The Glenn B-Team won by scores of 12-15, 12-9 and 16-14 over the Culver B-Team for a 6-3 record while Culver slipped to 3-6 on the year. Shawnda Gemons had 14 out of 14 serves. Ingrid Boise 13 out of 13 and Mary Singleton 12 out of 12 while Cindy Beghtel had five kills, Mary Singleton had 13 passes and Ingrid Boise had a 2.25 passing average.

Glenn topped the Oregon-Davis girls by scores of 15-1 and 15-10. The team had a 43 out of 43 serving accuracy while Angie Alebertsen had four kills and Julie Knowlton 11 passes. Angie McKesson had 17 sets to lead in that department. Glenn moved to 8-3 while O-D slipped to 8-10 with the loss. The O-D Bees topped the Glenn reserves by scores of 13-11, 13-15 and 14-12. Ingrid Boise and Shawnda Clemons each had 14 out of 14 serves. Cindy Beghtel had four kills and she and Mary Singleton had 18 passes each. Mindy Salyer had the best passing rating with a 2.5 while Ingrid Boise had 25 sets. NORTH LIBERTY VOLLEYBALL TEAM OPENS SEASON The North Liberty Jr. High volleyball teams had their first game last Thursday against South Bend Edison. The 7th grade lost in a hard sough match that took three games, 15-12, 8-15 and 15-10. Angie Mlekodaj served for 96% making 23 of her 24 serves. Tricia Zellers was 11 for 12. The Bth grade team lost their match in three games 12-15, 15-11 and 10-15. First game jitters were apparent as the Falcons led all three games by a score of 9-2 but let up and lost momentum. The girls played very well against a strong Edison team and were invited back for a rematch. The teams traveled to Triton Monday for their first away game and come back with two victories. The 7th grade team won in two games 15-8 and 15-9. Angie Miekodaj, Tricia Zellers and Jamie McCool servede 100% The Bth grade girls were victorious in two games. They jumped out to a 9-2 lead but again stalled at nine. The girls held on to win 15-11. The second game was a game of fundamental volleyball with the Falcons bump, set and spiking to a 15-4 victory. The girls played extremely well and were led in points by Rachelle Fisher and Dawn Gorby. The North Lbierty Falcons take on the Urey Falcons Wednesday, October 3 at Urey at 4:30 p.m. They plan Oregon-Davis at home Thursday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m. CROSS COUNTRY TEAM DEFEATS OREGON-DAVIS The Glenn cross country team continued its winning ways by defeating Oregon-Davis 22-37 Mon day evening. Eric Pentecost led Glenn with a second place overall finish in 17:04. Kraig Perkins followed in 17:13 and Jeff Rans bottom was next in 17:23. David Hille placed 6th in 17:35 and Rick Dillon seventh in 1 7 :56. Eric Snell and David Fugate broke into the top ten with ninth and tenth places respectively. The rest of the Glenn runners were Keith Gark 12th, Roger Spier, 16th, Ed Brooke, 16th, Steve Heim, 19th. and Dusty New, 22nd. The team has a 7-1 dual meet record and runs New Prairie Wed nesday. The County meet will be Thursday at Culver Military Acad emy and the team will travel to South Central Saturday for the South Central Invitational.
