Richmond, Minister “FREEDOM FROM SMOKING’’ PROGRAM TO BE OFFERED “Freedom From Smoking”, an eight session smoking cessation program, will be offered by LaPorte Hospital’s Health Quarters beginning Tuesday. October 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The program, developed by the American Lung Association, will be conducted by Kathy Richards, RN, cardiac rehabilitation, and Gail Meyers, RN, vascular services. Both have taken special training to qualify as instructors. The course includes films, self evaluations, strategies, guest speakers who are ex-smokers, coping skills and individualized techniques for quitting and staying away from cigarettes. Following the first orientation/ introductory session, the program includes “Road To Freedom”, October 9; “Wanting To Quit”, October 16; “Quit Night”, October 23; “Winning Strategies”, Thursday, October 25; “The New You”, October 30; “Staying Off’, November 6; and “Let’s Celebrate”, November 13.
