Michiana Chapter No. 105, National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni, received its charter in formal ceremonies, Wednesday, August 29. at the picnic grounds by Cummings Lodge in Soldier Memorial Park, LaPorte. Participating in ceremonies, left to right, are: Stanley Jerkins, Evergreen Park, 111., president of Greater Chicago Area Exercise Classes To Begin Locally September 17th The Health and Lifestyle Center of Memorial Hospital announces the autumn schedule of exercise classes will begin Monday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m., in the North Liberty school gym and on Wednesday, September 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Walkerton Elementary school gym. Sue Klinedinst, instructor, will lead the class in "Easy Does It Fitness". This one-hour class is a slow-pace, exercise-to-music session that is designed for those who have not exercised for some time. Emphasizing primarily flexibility and conditioning exercises, this class will assist women in regaining muscle tone, strength and a higher energy level. Relaxation and

Michiana Chapter; Bob Thinnes, Chapter No. 76; and Velmar Mack, Walkerton, vice president, Chapter No. 105. The next meeting of Michiana Chapter No. 105 will be Wednesday, September 26, at the Activity Center for Older Adults, 910 State Street. LaPorte, at 1:00 p.m. breathing techniques that are incorporated in the class help reduce stress and tension. This is a fun workout guaranteed to create a feeling of well being. These classes have no age restrictions and since no dance routine is taught one can join on any Monday or Wednesday night. It is however recomended, that, if possible, students begin the first week of September 17 so as not to miss specific instruction of certain exercises. Participants are reminded to wear lose fitting clothes and bring a pad or blanket for floor exercises. Class size is restricted to a minimum of 15 students. The fee is $12.00 for six sessions. For more information call 586-2377. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN GATHER On September 4, at 6:30 p.m., the United Methodist Women gathered at Stuntz-Hochstetler Pine forest for a pot luck meal and their
meeting. The Ruth Circle were the hostesses. The dinner prayer was given by our president, Mrs. James Haney. A thank you note was read from the James Craft family. Some dates to remember are September 22, the annual conference meeting at Huntington; September 27, District meeting at the First United Methodist Church in LaPorte; September 30. Congregation dinner following church services; November 12. officers training at Plymouth; and November 15 is our regular meeting and we will have the students from the Wesley Foundation at Purdue show slides and tell of their work in missions. Mrs. Clara Cole, vice-president, attended the Dart weekend. The spiritual food she received shown as she told of her wonderful experiences of the weekend retreat, of the School of Missions. She recommended it for the women who cannot go for the whole week. A white elephant auction was greatly enjoyed by all and who could enjoy an auction sale without that well known auctioneer, Mrs. Martha Mull, up front.
