JG Adult Education Classes Underway Adult education classes for high school credit has begun at John Glenn High School this week. Courses arc being offered in English. math, business and social studies; sessions will last for 15 weeks. English study will concentrate on junior and senior level material. An individualized math approach will enable the student to earn credit in general math, algebra or geometry. The business class will offer a course in the Introduction to the Computers with Word Processing and Data Processing. The social studies class will be concerned with the study of economics and government. There are openings in all classes. Students should report to the high school for registration according to the following schedule: English, Monday, 7:00 p.m., room 109. SIO.OO. Business, Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., room 122, SIO.OO. Social Studies, Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., room 118, SIO.OO. Math, Thursday, September 13, 7:00 p.m., room 124, SIO.OO. During the week of September 17 non-credit adult education classes will begin. Ten-week courses will be offered in beginning art, advanced art, computers and adult recreation. Mr. John Thomas will teach the beginning drawing course for anyone who has an interest in drawing. No experience is necessary. Mrs. Nora Wilson will teach the class in watercolor for adults. She will teach drybrush, wet on wet, and other watercolor techniques. Miss Wilson worked as a commercial artist and currently teaches watercolor in the “Gallery in the Garrett" in South Bend. Adults interested in these art classes should call the high school to register as class size is limited. The fee for the beginning and advanced art class will be $40.00. The computer class will be offered according to the following schedule:

GLENN WINS 3, LOSES 2 IN VOLLEYBALL The Glenn girls volleyball team last week won three matches and lost twice in action which included the Bremen Tourney. On Tuesday. September 4. they lost their first of the season against one win to a visiting St. Joe team by scores of 15-3 and 14-12. For the Lady Falcons Julie Knowlton and Theresa Knowlton had 100% accuracy serving with 7 of 7 and 6 of 6 respectively. Knowlton and Jennifer Price each had three kills and Price had the most passes, six. Julie Knowlton’s passing average of 3.0 led the team while Linda Parker had the most sets with 24. The St. Joe B-Team made it a sweep topping the Glenn reserves 15-2 and 15-0. Tammy Osborne was the most accurate server with three of three while Mindy Salyer had 15 passes and Amy Kaser had the best passing average, 2.2. The B-Team also was 1-1 after this loss. Glenn Tops North Judson At home again on Thursday, Glenn got back on winning ways with a victory over North Judson by scores of 10-15, 15-5 and 15-13. Angie Albertsen and Theresa Northam were perfect on serving accuracy with 15 out of 15 and 10 of 10 respectively. Julie Knowlton led in kills with 8 and the most passes with 16. Jennifer Price had the best passing average with a 2.2 rating and Lisa Parker led the team in sets with 22 for 25. The win raised the Glenn record to 2-1 while Judson slipped to 4-5 with the loss. The Bees also won by scores of
15-2 and 15-8. Mindy Salyer had 11 for 11 serves and most passes with 6. Mary Singleton had the best passing average with a 3.25 rating. Glenn is 2-1 after the win and Judson slipped to 2-4. Bremen Tourney On Saturday the Lady Falcons participated in the Bremen Tourney and ended up in second place in the eight-team meet, losing the finals to host Bremen. The first round had Culver Girls Academy over Argos by scores of 6-15, 15-13 and 15-8. Glenn topped Culver Community 15-17, 1513 and 15-6. Bremen won over LaVillc by 15-4 and 15-6 while Rochester eliminated Triton by scores of 11-13, 15-7 and 15-10. In second round action, Glenn topped the Culver Girls Academy 15-2 and 15-4 and Bremen advanced in their own meet with 15-10 and 12-9 victories over Rochester. Bremen then kept their season record perfect at 6-0 with a victory over the Lady Falcons, now 4-2, in the finals. The scores were 3-15, 15-7 and 15-8. For Glenn in the three matches combined, Julie Knowlton had 32 out of 32 serves for a 100% accuracy. Knowlton and Angie McKesson led in kills with 18 and 20 respectively while Knowlton had the most passes, 29. Lisa Parker and Chana Singleton each had a 2.33 passing average and Lisa Parker had the most sets with 110.

FRANCIS R. GINDELBERGER Francis Roy Gindelberger, 67, Rural Route 4, Walkerton, passed away unexpectedly at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, in his home. He was born on November 27, 1916, in South Bend and lived most of his life in the Walkerton area. He married Florence Eileen Johnson on April 20, 1941, in South Bend, who preceded him in death on October 10, 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Diane Henry, of Walkerton; two grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon D. Gindelberger, of Okeechobee, Florida. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Walkerton, with Rev. John Goodpasture officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. He was owner and operator of the Dad & Lad’s Clothing Store. Walkerton, for more than 36 years. He was an Army veteran of World War 11. Indianapolis, 1nd.46204. MABLE S. HUMES Mable S. Humes, 84. of 205 S. Williams Street. North Liberty, passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. September 4. in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home. Walkerton. She was born on July 4, 1900, in Plymouth and lived in North Liberty since 1941, moving there from South Bend. Her husband. Floyd Humes, preceded her in death in 1961. Surviving are a daughter, Virginia J. Light, of Lisle, Illinois; a son, Floyd, of North Liberty; five grandchildren; and a brother, Cassius A. Hunter, of Walkerton. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty, officiated by Dr. Gariord Saltzgaber, with burial in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. ROSA COLLINS Mrs. Rosa A. Collins, 99, formerly of Pine Road, Rural Route 2, North Liberty, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver. She was a lifetime North Liberty resident. She was bom in North Liberty on October 30, 1885. She married Mahlon Collins in July of 1937, in North Liberty, who preceded her in death. She is survived by eight nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, with Rev. David W. Shockey officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, North Liberty. FRANCIS CHRAPLIWY Frances Chrapliwy, 71, of 726 S. Meade Street, South Bend, passed away at 12:55 a m. on Wednesday, September 5. in Greencroft Nursing Center, Goshen. She was bom on July 11, 1913, in South Bend and lived there all of her life.
