A tour of the Grand Ole Opera was taken last weekend and time spent in Nashville, Tennessee was enjoyed by the following ladies, Mrs. Marge Morrey, Mrs. Lucille Dickson, Mrs. Thelma Pry and Mrs. Mary Steinhart, all of Koontz Lake. Al and Dorothea Brenner spent last Friday in Downers Grove, Illinois, as guests of Mrs. Helen Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Labno will serve as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting on Saturday night at the club house. Mrs. Margaret DeMyer, Mrs. Dorothy Walz and Mrs. Bertha Urbin went to Sheridan on Wednesday of last week to spend the day with Mrs. Jeanette Guttman. A lovely luncheon and an afternoon of playing bridge were enjoyed. Mrs. John Hamilton, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, was a visitor with her mother, Mrs. Rita Stewart, Koontz Lake, the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dill and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Albright, of North Liberty, were Saturday afternoon picnicers at Potato Creek State Park and enjoyed listening to the Jeff Brown trio performances. Seventeen ladies from the Walkerton United Methodist Church went to Hamilton Grove, near New Carlisle, on Wednesday, to entertain the group having birthdays in the month of July. The ladies furnished refreshments for the party and the program with Miss Jane Keefe going along to furnish the music for the afternoon. Mr. Earl Wisler, of Niles, Michigan, was a Monday visitor of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery. Mrs. Bertha Urbin was in Rochester for a birthday party given for her sister, Mrs. Anna Allen, who is a resident of Canterbury Nursing Home, on Friday. Others came from South Bend, Rochester, Logansport, Wakarusa and Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cole and sons were Sunday evening dinner guests of her mother, Mrs. Leonard Beaty. This was also a birthday celebration for Mrs. Cole.

i Mrs. Edward Walz, Walkerton, and Mrs. Vai Klause, of North Libi erty, were in Terre Haute last week attending a Gesell workshop on : school readiness. The workshop 1 was over two days in an elementary i school there. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert, t Koontz Lake, attended the wedding of their niece’s daughter in Vienna, i Virginia, recently. They also visited with relatives in Maryland. I Mr. and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst were Sunday visitors with Mr. Iva ; Pippenger, of rural Plymouth. i Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn spent the weekend in New Carlisle attending the Pioneer Old Fashioni ed Days which they found very interesting They represented the District No. 4 Volunteer Firemen. Eighteen campers came to camp i through the weekend from the district group. Joining them were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hahn and • family. Mr. and Mrs. Burgoone Carnes, of Rockingham, North Carolina, are spending a week here with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and I Mrs. John Solmos. Other guests for Sunday were Mr. Dave Solmos and family, of Indianapolis; Mr. I and Mrs. Larry McDaniel and i Michelle, of Noblesville; and Mr. Pat Solmos and friend, of South Bend. ! Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Revette, of Carthage, New York and Mr. Stephen Eichelberger, of Hanniabl, i New York, were weekend guests of i Mr. and Mrs. Richard Crane. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Froyck, of Koontz Lake, returned home after i spending several days in Western Springs, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Minter attended the Minter family reunion i held on Sunday, in Rensselear, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Minter. There were 60 present for i day. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber spent last week in Tiffin, Ohio, with Mrs. William Lucius. They visited relatives and friends in Tiffin, Sandusky and Oregon, Ohio. Mr. Lucius is a resident of Autumni wood Nursing Home, in Tiffin. i Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Freed the weekend of July 22, were their son and family, from Richmond, Virginia. On Sunday they

attended Mrs. Freed’s family reunion near North Manchester, where her 91 year old mother, Mrs. Iva Metzger, and 66 family members were present. All nine children of Mrs. Metzger with their spouses, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, were there. There is a total of 130 in the complete family. After the reunion the Freed family gathered at the home of Paul & Mary Ann Freed, at Warsaw, to swim in their pool and celebrate Leonard’s 76th birthday. ATTEND CAMP During the week of July 22nd and July 28, seven Boy Scouts and Roy Williams, scoutmaster, attended Scout camp at Camp Tamarack, in Jones, Michigan. The following boys won many merit badges: Scott Bostwick, safety, swimming, basketry, environmental science, communication, motor boating and personal fitness; Dave Parker, basketry, snorkeling B.S.A. and Star Rank; Todd Clifton, basketry; Jason Parker, Jerry Dils and Ray Noel were presented with a partial Naturalist Badge. OXLEY REUNION Fifty decendants of Ora and Olive Oxley met at Stuntz-Hoch-stetler Pines club building at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 21. The youngest member was Sara E. Elleb, who was only three and a half weeks old. Relatives came from Dorr, Michigan; Joliet, Illinois; Evansville, North Webster, Hungtington, Rossville, North Liberty and Walkerton. Fred and Millie Daniels furnished the wagon for hay rides, also horses for riding which was very much appreciated. The reunion will be held at the same place next year.
