To Observe 50th Anniversary With Reception ■K Imi jL aw MW Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Garke, of Koontz Lake, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception on Sunday at the Koontz Lake Conservation Club. Clarke, a retired painter, and the former Marjorie Finch, were married on August 2, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. The event will be hosted by the couple’s children, Marilyn Arndt, Country Club Hills, Illinois; Judith Skaggs, Lowell, Indiana; and Richard Clarke, Germont, Florida. They also have 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. ENGAGED The September 2 wedding plans of Peggy Ann Milo and Donn Ray Schafer, both of Indianapolis, has been announced by the bnde-elect’s father, Earl F. Milo, of LaPorte. Market Street, North Liberty, will participatein the 18th annual “America’s Youth On Parade” held in South Bend July 24 through July 28. AYOP has been called the “Olympics Os Pageantry” and features hundreds of competitive events for baton twirlers, corps, music groups, drill teams and anyone connected with any facet of pageantry. This year’s event features a total of 40 national and world contests. Winners are awarded with scholarships and trophies on the final night of AYOP. The event is held at the huge Athletic and Convocation Center on the Notre Dame University campus. On the final afternoon of AYOP, students and townspeople alike are treated to displays of pageantry and top-name entertainment in an event that is traditionally known as “The Big Show”. Tonya Blake is the daughter of Robert and Joy Blake. She has been studying baton with Lorraine Gill for seven years. Gassifieds begin at $1.50.

Join cub scouts — HAVE FUN AND LEARN NEW THINGS The Cub Scout program includes a plan of achievement through which boys learn by doing. It is full of boy adventures and inter- ! ests. She is a graduate of John Glenn High School. 4-HER’S HOLD FINAL CLUB MEETING The Johnson Township Prairie Farmers 4-H Club held their final meeting on Monday, July 23. President Julie Bolze called the meeting to order. Demonstrations were given by Keith Bierly “Wildlife Division 3”, Gale Bierly “Caring For Your Cat” and Jill Bolze “How To Show A Steer”. Songs were led by Jay Wright. The group will go to Indiana Beach, at Monticello, on Wednesday, July 25 for their final outing. A tour was taken of the member’s homes that have animal projects. The group visited the Bolze farm to see Jill, Julie and Chip’s steers, and also went to see Andrea and Tod Brems’ hogs, Christine Paschen’s rabbits and Carolyn Chapman's dog.
