POTATO CREEK ART & CRAFTS CONTEST RULES The following are the children’s contest rules of the Zeta Pi chapter of Tri Kappa. North Liberty, for the upcoming Potato Creek Festival Art & Crafts Contest. 1. The project must be handcrafted or created in the last year. (No kits accepted.) No adult or parental assistance for student entries. 2. Judges' decision is final on authenticity. Amateur competition for adults, no professionals, please. 3. Any theme or media may be used. 4. Pictures are to be mounted on posterboard, construction paper or matt board. 5. Put name, address, phone, age. grade and school on back of entry. 6. Deadline for entries is Saturday, July 27, 1984. Bring to Community State Bank, North Liberty. 7. Entries will be returned to the respective school’s Art Department where they are to be picked up by the students. F. FERN GOODALE Fanchon Fern Goodale, 90. formerly of North Liberty, recently passed away in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 30, 1893, in North Liberty. She married Charles E. Goodale on May 15, 1915, in North Liberty, who preceded her in death in 1951. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Mildred Hocker, North Liberty, and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Hartz-ler-Gutermuth Funeral Home and burial was in Rice Cemetery. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and taught grade school at Crumstown for two years. bird. On lap 32 Doug Hanna hit the third turn wall in a grinding crash. He was okay. Nyari come home first ahead of Leßoy Skiles, Erv Starret, Bob Blount and Clete Caywood. Skiles won the dash and a heat, with Frank Lile also taking a heat victory. Joe Smith battled Brian Ross down to the wire in the 50 lap road runner feature. Smith and Ross ran side by side and nose to tail throughout most of the feature. At the finish it was Smith, Ross, Jim Looney, Mike Milliser and Tom Davies. Semi-features were won by Dave Killian and Rick Slusher with Kim Nettrour winning the dash and heat victories were scored by Jim Dills, Bub Durham, Dick White and Rick Jordan. Tom Jones coasted home the easy winner in the 15 lap coyote feature. Trailing Jones to the finish were Chad Thompson, Bill Nickodemis, Paul VanScoik and Ken Brimhail. Brimhall won the dash while Jones and VanScoik took heat wins. Eighty-seven cars were on hand to honor Danny Galloway, the late flagman of New Paris. Racing returns to New Paris this Saturday with Mid-Season Championships for super late models and road runners. Practice is at 3:00, time trials at 6:30 and racing at 8:00 p.m. HORSESHOE PITCHING There will be horseshoe pitching at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at the Adams Street pit. Everyone is welcome.
