Clean-Up Day Sat., July 28 At Potato Creek Park In the height of the summer season the wildflowers are blooming and the birds are singing at Potato Creek State Park. It is a beautiful sight to behold. Among this splendor there is an eyesore — litter. Soft drink cans, candy wrappers and bottles dot the landscape in testament to the few thoughtless visitors who tossed it there. On Saturday, July 28, come to Potato Creek, bring the family and a picnic lunch and help give the park a thorough cleaning. It’s a big job. Miles of hiking and bicycling trails, park road and horse trails need to be walked and cleaned. Anyone interested in volunteering their time to help the Potato Creek personnel accomplish this task should meet at the park office at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28. Rain date is July 29. All scout groups and service organizations are welcome. Litter bags will be furnished. When the park is sparkling clean, there will be a free concert at 2:00 p.m. in the Peppermint Hill Picnic Shelter featuring the Jeff Brown Jazz Trio. They will entertain the whole family with sparkling performances of contemporary jazz to the delight of all ages. This concert is part of the Cultural Arts Program sponsored by Potato Creek and Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Talented Indiana artists will present wholesome entertainment in the natural park setting. For more information, contact John F. Schaust, 656-8186.
