Mrs. Walter Smith. Mrs. Ruby Jimerson is a patient in the LaPorte Hospital. She was admitted on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner were in Goshen on Easter Sunday to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Randolph and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Gerhart and sons, of Kingsford Heights, were Easter Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber. It was also a birthday celebration for Rosalie. Vee Shogren. Koontz Lake, had the annual Easter get-together with her family. There to celebrate with her were Richard and Carole Shogren. of Detroit, Michigan; Larry and Sandy Larson and family, of Pecatonica. Illinois; the Dempster family, of Darien, Illinois; the Malinovskys. of Boling Bnxik. Illinois; her sister. Virginia Malinovsky. of Darien. Illinois; and Joseph Nickels, of Mt. Greenwood, Illinois. The children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt which was followed by a lovely dinner and an aftermxm of fun and fellowship. Vee's daughter. Sandy Larson, and sons. Andy and Eric, are spending the week here at Koontz Lake with her. ON DEAN’S LIST Donn Ray Schafer. Walkerton, has been placed on the Dean's List at Indiana University. Bloomington. tor the first semester. He will be among those honored at the Pou rider's Day program, at the University, on April 20. To make the list students must earn a 3.5 grade average or better in a minimum of 12 hours of course work. Seventeen attending were graduates of Tyner High School. All were spending the winter in the central part of Floria. An enjoyable day was had by all. ENLISTS IN ARMY Robert Clapper, son of Robert and Grace Clapper. Sr.. 1303 Ohio Street. Walkerton, has enlisted in the Army. He will graduate from John Glenn High School in May and he will then report for basic combat training at Fort Jackson. South Carolina, on August 23. His advance training to become an aerial surveillance sensor repairman will be undertaken at Fort Gordon, Georgia. UREY STUDENTS WORK WITH HEAD START The Urey Middle School sixth grade home economics class made dough Easter figures with Head Start students on March 15. Working together the students shaped, baked and varnished the figures which were given to the Head Start students to take home and enjoy. This project was a beneficial and enjoyable learning experience for all. ’ Another exciting activity for Miss Anderson's home economics class was an Easter candy making demonstration by Mrs. Karen O'Connor, of Walkerton. Each student was able to make delicious candy. Many thanks are given to Head Start and Mrs. O’Connor for the opportunity to share. Further excitement at Urey involves the seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams, cheerleaders and ponpom squad. These girls and their sponsors, Mrs. Laura O’Connor, Miss Denise

GIFTS GIVEN TO KOONTZ LAKE PUBLIC LIBRARY 1 hanks to the generosity of some folks in the community , the Kixmtz Lake Library is a little richer this month. The first gift was a very fine bixik of poetry. "Poetry In L arge Print". This contains all the old tried and true rhymes one learned w hile grow ing up and those one had to memorize in school. This book was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. John F Marshall. "Computers" was given to the library by Jack Powers and is a very useful addition. And the third gift was a check for $25.00 from the Woman’s Community Club of Walkerton. New policies of the Starke County Public Library board include a higher fee for out-of-county members and a higher fine for overdue books. I his board has jurisdiction over Knox. Hamlet. San Pierre and Kixmtz Lake libraries. For the first time the four libraries will have a reprieve month in which those who have bixiks that were overdue before the first of March w ill be allow ed to return them w ithout being fined. This will run for the w hole month of April. Beginning May 1. the out-of-county fee will he SIO.OO and fines will be five cents instead of two cents as it has been. Tim, have one child and are expecting their second very soon. Chosen as Nursing Aide of the Month for February was Kelly Stull. She is a Geriatric Aide and has worked at the nursing home for over a year. Kelly and her husband.
