KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP AT J.G. APRIL 20 There will be a meeting for parents and children eligible to enroll for kindergarten during the 1983-84 school year. This meeting will be held for parents of students enroll ing in the Walkerton school district on April 20. Developmental screening will be done at this time necessitating dividing up into small groups according to the child's birthdate as follows: September I - November 30 — 8:00 a.m. December I - March 31 — 10:00 a.m. April 1- August 31 — 1:00 p.m. Health examination and immunization forms which parents should present to the physician at examination time will be distributed during the preregistration. These forms must be returned to the school before September 1. Proof of age with a legal birth certificate (one from the health department of the county in which the child was born) is required before the child can attend kindergarten. Children must be 5 on or before August 31 to enroll in Kindergarten. Students who will be 6on or before August 31 may also preregister on this date.

Community Club Holds Meeting Friday, March 18 Ihe GFWC Woman’s Community Club of Walkerton met for their regular meeting on Friday, March 1 8. at the Community Building. Decorations were in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and a green gelatin dessert was served to 46 members and one guest. The hostesses were Alfreda Onika. chairman, Selma Pry, Edythe Thomas. Esther Smith. Ann Rockwell. Heleji Carmichael and Evelyn Schmidt. Following the dessert, the meeting was called to order, by the president, Alice Walker, with the pledge to the flag. Application for membership, of Mary Omiecinski, was presented by Lucille Dickson, membership chairman. The members voted unanimously to accept her as a member, bringing our membership count to 96. After a rather lengthy meeting, the members viewed the arts and crafts on display. A very interesting and informative program on the Life And Artistry of Rembrandt was presented by Mrs. Lester Theis, a retired school teacher residing in this area. We extend our appreciation to the Visual Arts Department of John Glenn High School for the use of materials and

equipment used for the Rembrandt story. KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION AT 0-D SET Oregon Davis School plans Kindergarten Orientation Program for April 20th in the new elemental cafeteria. To be eligible for kindergarten, the child must be five years old on or before September 1. 1983. and six years of age on or before September Ist to enter first grade. A legal birth certificate is required for registration. The birth certificate may be obtained by contacting the Health Department in the county in which the child was born. Indiana law requires all elementary school children to be immunized against diptheria. whooping couch, tetanus, measles, rebella and poliomyelitis. Health forms will be handed out at the meeting for the parents to have completed by their family doctor and dentist. The morning registration will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. April 20.
