The Academy is located one-half mile southwest of Plainfield. The Honorable Richard M. Givan. Chief Justice Indiana Supreme Court, will be principal speaker at the event. Colonel Arthur R. Raney. Jr., the Academy's Executive Director; and Patrolman Jeffery P. Burleson. Hanover Police Department. Class President, will also address the graduating officers, their families and guests. Indiana requires all non-elected law enforcement officers to successfully complete basic training within their first year of service. Failure to complete the training results in the officer losing the power of arrest. It is interesting to note that tax money is not used to support this program.
