There will be an executive session prior to the regular meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. GLENN GIRLS TOP PLYMOUTH IN SECTIONAL 58-50 John Glenn’s girls basketball team came out in the second half with a more agressive offense and certainh a much better defense to

take charge of (he game and win their opening Sectional Journey game with Plymouth 58-50. In a game that had a lot of action all the wav through, the Lady Falcons, after watching Plymouth jump to an early lead and dominate plav, had it going their wav in the last 16 minutes to record victory number 11 against 9 losses and advance to the final game of the LaVillc Sectional. After Michele Vicsik hit the game's first basket after almost two and a half minutes had passed, the Pilgrimettes took complete charge for the next few minutes. I hey first got baskets from Roxanne Gibson and Bev Wojcik before Julie Knowlton sunk a 16 footer, then Plymouth got three more in a row. two by Lana Powell, to jump to a 10-4 lead. By the end of the quarter, the Falcons had trimmed it only one point. 14-9. and Plymouth was dominating play. Things started to turn around in the second quarter as the tempo picked up and with Vicsik having a great five basket effort in this period. the Falcons got back in the game to stay. Early on in the period it was basket trading, but Glenn got nine of the last 13 points scored in the half with a desperation shot by Ghana Singleton as time ran out, that was good for a Glenn 29-28 lead at halftime. Defense was most of the story of the second half. With pressure being put on all over the court, and some real denying Plymouth the ball inside when they did get down court, the tempo of the game turned completely around and the Lady Falcons were on their wav. With four girls splitting up the 17 points in this quarter, and the defense holding Plymouth at bay. the Glenn team started to pull away slowly. Despite only increasing the lead to 46-42 after three, they had the momentum on their side and the first half of the final quarter decided it. Glenn got the first eight points while holding Plymouth without a basket until Lynne Kincade scored with more than half the quarter gone. She also had a great sectional last year and it couldn't have come at a better time cither year. Knowlton ended with 12 points and eight girls shared the Falcons 58 points Wojcik, the talented senior four-year veteran of Plymouth, had 18 points, hut despite getting 12 from Lana Powell, didn't have the balance be hind her that Glenn showed in this game.
