John Glenn School Board News The Board of School Trustees of the John Glenn School Corporation met in regular session on January 18 in the library of the Urey Middle School. All board members except Jack Ryan, were present, along with the superintendent and eight observers. A motion was made and approved to approve the minutes of the January 4 regular meeting and also moved and carried unanimously were claims 38 through 103 for payment. In new business, the superintendent Harold R. Muncie, discussed the financial statement ending December 31, 1982. with the board and brought to attention those appropriations that were of concern. He also informed the board that the 1983 John Glenn High School prom has been changed from Mav 14 to May 7 due to a conflict at the Americana Hotel. South Bend, that weekend, where the prom is to be held. A committee was formed by the board consisting of John Peddycord, William Millar and Dean Anderson to review the business manager applicants along with the superintendent. The committee will select 10 names from the some 35 applicants and present these names to the full board for further review. The board agreed to accept the resignation of Ken Rohrer as boys intramural sponsor at North Liberty Elementary and appoint Tim Davis as the replacement. The board unanimously agreed to again establish $66.00 as the fee for the driver education course this summer. This is the same fee as was charged last year. An additional appropriation in the amount of $14,500 from the cumulative building fund for the purpose of lowering the w ater main in the Urey Middle School parking lot was agreed upon by the board as it had been advertised. A request for a cash transfer student for the second semester at John Glenn High School was unanimously denied by the board as recommended by the adminis tration. The board approved the installation of two tempered insulated glass windows in the walls of the North Liberty Elementary School at a cost of $3.180.00. Payment of related expenditures as presented from the contingency fund in the amount of $11,338.32. were approved by the board. The superintendent was instructed by the board to send a notice to those contractors who have not finished their items on the punch list for the John Glenn High School and/or North Liberty Elementary ' Middle School by February I. 1983, or owner will finish and deduct such costs from their contracts. Dave Foster, clerk of the works, and representatives from P ACE Design, discussed with the board some items that pertains to the wrap-up of the two building projects. The next meeting of the School Board is scheduled for Tuesday, February 1, at 8:30 p.m.. in the library of the John Glenn High School. The board will meet in executive session prior to the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of discussing a personnel matter. Ahhtu an R«tl Cn»ss
