They will present a program on Sunday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the North Liberty Church of Christ. All are invited to attend. Say it with a “Happy Ad” Know and obey the traffic laws! The torches will be reunited in Greenwood for the final torch run into the city. At the lighting of the flame. USOC President William Simon will declare the Festival games offically open. The doors of Market Square Arena will open at 6:30 for an hour of pre-ceremony entertainment, at 7:00 p.m. Then at 8:00 p.m. the athletes preceded by flags of the 50 states, will parade into the Arena and will be given the Olympic Oath of Athletes by a participating athlete. Also to be on hand will be Bob Hope to entertain the crowd following the ceremony. Time approximated at 8:42 to 9:42 p.m. The Winners’ Circle Celebration will be from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at Monument Circle with admission set at $4.00 at the event and $3.50 for an advance ticket. There will be food vendors featuring varieties of ethnic and delicious ‘cuisine. Four musical groups. The Kingston Trio. The Wright Brothers. Roadmaster and Clarian will perform. At approximately 10:00 p.m.. a giant fireworks display will be held from the Indiana National Bank building to salute the athletes as they join the Winners’ Circle festivities upon leaving Market Square Arena. The Legion Mall ceremonies are open to the public free of charge. Market Square Arena program is priced at $15.00. for adults and $7.50 for children 16 years of age and younger when accompanied by a paying adult. At the Mall performances by four award winning Indiana bands, U. S. Twirling Association champions and the Fort Benjamin Harrison U. S. Army Band. Also the biplanes show will be held. Spectators will view the Parade of Athletes at 5:00 p.m. at the north end of the mall which will be led by more than 200 young people representing various youth organization. The athletes, dressed in the color of their Festival teams (red-West, yellow-North, blue-East, and green-south), will gather in University Park then march around the top level of the War Memorial at the north end of the Mall. This will take place prior to the ceremonies planned at Market Square Arena. Tickets are availabe by mail by writing of 1982 National Sports Festival. New Pastor At Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church Jeffrey A. Ames, son of Rev. and
Mrs. Louis W. Ames, of Union City, Michigan, assumed the pastorate of the Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church on July 1. Pastor Ames is a 1977 graduate of Union City High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Marion College, Marion, Indiana, in 1981. He was ordained as an Elder in the Wesleyan Church in June and is beginning his fourth year of pastoral service. His wife, Linda, received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Marion College in 1981, and is a registered nurse.
