Jill Northam and Scott Hostetler were united in marriage on Saturday, July 10, during a three o’clock double ring ceremony officiated by Rev. Chester Mayflower and Rev. Marvin Engbrccht, of the Brenneman Memorial Church, Goshen, at the Walkerton United Methodist Church. was vocalist along with the John Glenn High School Swing Choir. T he bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Northam, 112 Clark Street. Walkerton. She is a graduate of John Glenn High School and Taylor University. She is director of choral music at John Glenn High School and Urey Middle School. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hostetler. State Road 15, Goshen. He is a
graduate of Goshen High School and Bethel College. He is a teacher at Urey Middle School and assistant coach of girls basketball at John Glenn High School. The bride was escorted by her father and she chose a Victorian style gown of Wedgewood Chantilly lace trimmed in satin with cap sleeves and a cathedral train. Her fingertip veil was secured by a wreath of white silk roses and she carried a bouquet of white roses, stephanotis and baby’s breath. Maid of honor was Jennifer Heivic. Indianapolis, college roommate, and bridesmaids were Susan Farrar, Walkerton; Debby Lynn Cox, Upland; and Tamara Lane, Columbus. The attendants were in dresses of Aubergine lace and were of Victorian style and they carried long stemmed white roses with baby’s breath. Flower girl was Ashlee McLaughlin, Goshen, niece of the groom. Serving as best man for his college roommate was Doug Snyder, Argos. Groomsmen were Dick Armington, Scott Berkey and Scott LaPlace, all of Mishawaka. Ushers were Chuck Looker, Goshen, and Mick Baker, Ft. Wayne. Ring bearer was Jason Hostetler, Indianapolis, nephew of the groom. The groom’s attendants were in silver grey tuxedos. A reception was held at the Walkerton Elementary School gymnasium with a buffet catered by Mrs. Evelyn Eddinger and served by Miss Mitzi Knepper. Serving the punch was Miss Teresa Reeder. North Liberty; the cake, Mrs. Dick (Debbie) Armington, Mishawaka; and Mrs. David (Teri) Martin, Goshen. At the guest book was Katie and Lauri Hershberger, Walkerton. A wedding trip to the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania, and the east coast was enjoyed and the couple are at home on Rural Route 4. Walkerton. Notes From Miller’s Merry Manor By Florence Peek Our deep sympathy is extended to Gina Moore and members of her family for the tragic accident suffered by her brother-in-law and nephew and the loss of her nephew. Our sympathy is also extended to Georgia Wagneroski in the loss of her father. We were so pleased to see Betty Schultz when she visited here recently. She is still on crutchess but the cast is off. We are looking forward to her return as an aide. We are glad to have Floyd Bellinger and Leia Ruby back from the hospital. Both seem to be recovering well. A resident of many years. Minnie Taylor, passed away. She was a unique person and we shall miss her. We have missed Norma Corbett during her illness and will be happy when she can return to be with us. Many of our residents were taken by vans to see the Fourth of July parade in Walkerton. Many of us sat up to watch the fireworks. Age doesn't deminish our appreciation of that excitement. We have many new residents, Florence White, Ethel Crothers, Lulu Nunemaker, Mary Grosnowiak, George Lusher, Cash Hunter, Bessie Ward, Stephanie DeWalle and Mary Mcßride. The June birthday party was held on the 27th. Guests honored were Prudie Myers. Ray Stull. Mae Babcock and Ruth McKesson. Entertainment for the residents birthday party was furnished by Pauline Klopfenstein at the piano to accom pany community singing. We are glad to welcome back Frank Johnson w ho plays the piano for us every Friday afternoon. We really enjoy his talent. We are also pleased to welcome Virginia McFarland to read to us when she comes. We would like to see more residents come out to listen to this

We are having a resident yard sale on Friday, July 30, and we hope everyone will come and help make this a successful day. Saguaros, which are huge cactuses found in Arizona, are often called “apartment houses of the desert" because they provide living quarters for so many bird species.
