The state is looking for a song to help promote the “Wander Indiana" tourism campaign. The Tourism Development Division of the Indiana Department of Commerce and the Lieutenant Governor’s Tourism Advisory Council are asking song writers and performers to submit their entries, which must be original, by July 28. “We need a snappy, attention grabbing song that captures a feeling for Indiana. It must have lyrics that convey an upbeat image of Indiana, and music versatile enough to be used as instrumental background for radio and television", explained Jim Rogers, voluntary chairman of the council and vice president for public relations of Hook Drugs, Inc. Rogers said that professionals from the music industry are being asked to donate their talents as a public service to the state. “The annaul state tourism budget is less than $400,000, compared to millions of dollars spent by other states. We simply cannot afford to pay for a theme song, but we will compensate the winner or winners in every other way possible. The entry deadline is July 28. The winner will be announced in late August.
