Walter Carlson and Orville Klinedinst. Other officers installed were Dawn (. arlson. charity; Rose LaFollette, faith; and Lara Shirk, drill leader. Following the installation of officers Miss Rebecca Tindel presented Lisa with her gavel. The evening was then turned over to Miss LaFollette who thanked everyone for attending and thanked all of her helpers. Lisa had her parents escorted behind the altar where the soloist sang, “Always”. They were then escorted to the east
where she presented them with a gift of love and a kiss for each. She then introduced the rest of her family and friends. Dignataries present were Mrs. Irene Whittemberry. Grand Editor of “Our Hoosier Promise"; Mrs. Karen Easterday, assisting Grand Deputy District No. 26 and mother advisor of the Culver Assembly; Ruth Birk. Grand Representative to Japan; Mrs. Roberta Dill, mother advisor of the North Liberty Assembly: Mrs. Thelma Baylor, mother advisor of the Elkhart Assembly; Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Betty) King. Worthy Matron and Patron of the Walkerton OES and Walkerton advisory board members. Mrs. Dona Tennison, Mrs. Becky Reed. Mrs. Stoneburner. Mrs. Drews. Miss H. Scott, Mr. Whitteberry and Mr. Wolfenbarger. Miss LaFollete’s motto is “ail the flowers of all the tomorrow s arc in the seeds of today”; her watchwords, hope and faith; her colors, yellow and peach; her flower, the rose; and her song, “Let There Be Peace On Earth". Refreshments were served. LEEPER PARK ART FAIR THIS WEEKEND Leeper Park, on the banks of the St. Joseph River, South Bend, will be flooded with color and creativity again this weekend when the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society sponsors its 16th annual Leeper Park Art Fair. The event will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The park will be filled with original art works created by more than ISO artists from the Michiana area and from many distant states. Original oils, watercolors, pastels, graphics, sculpture and hand thrown pottery are the predominant mediums that will be on display. With such a variety there certainly will be something to please the specific taste of every visitor of the fair. Leeper Park is located just north of downtown South Bend on U. S. 33 (Old U. S. 31). Admission is free. Refreshments will be available. LEGION AND AUXILIARY TO INSTALL OFFICERS Installation of officers of The American Legion and Auxiliary. Orville Easterday Post and Unit 198, will be held Saturday, June 26, at 8:00 p.m. in the Post Home. Donald Ludwig will be installed as Commander of the Post by the Installing Team of Nappanee. Mrs. Robert Wardman will be installed as President of the Unit by Past Presidents of the Unit headed by Mrs. Harry Malstaff as Installing Officer. All members of The American Legion and Auxiliary and friends are invited to attend these ceremonies and assist the officers. Refreshments will be served following the installation. J G Baseball Team Drops To 2 - 2 Record The Glenn baseball team's record has slipped to 2-2 for the summer as Glenn could manage only eight hits in losses on the road to LaVille and Triton. Glenn And LaVille Glenn gained the lead in the first inning on a three-run homer by Ron Clemons but LaVille scored twice in the second, once in the third innning, and two more times in the sixth and Glenn lost 5-3. After the first frame of the Monday, June 14 contest, Glenn got just two more hits. Glenn And Triton Had it not been for a dropped third strike, Glenn would have been shut out instead of losing 6-1 to Triton on Thursday, June 17. Designated hitter John Hanley led off the third inning by striking out but reached base on the error by the Triton catcher. Ron Clemons then doubled to score Hanley.
