CONGRATULATIONS . . . AND A FIRST! Sunday will be the lime of the commencement exercises of John Glenn High School. We might call this the “Neu John Glenn High School” as it marks the first graduating class of the former John Glenn High School and Liberty Township. Not only are the seniors to be congratulated on achieving the distinction of receiving their high school diploma, but also this class has found a very smooth transition in their school, mostly due to the success of the kids themselves accepting all the confusion, adversities of over-crowding this year, and the making of new friends and friendships as well as a lot of them losing the ties of recent years before the merger took place. It has long been noted in most cases of reorganization, merging, etc., that the students themselves will get along fine, it is those outside of the school, the parents and others, that find the faults and cause the troubles. This senior class not only has handled this well, but in looking over their achievements, John Glenn High School is graduating a class of students that certainly can be proud of their accomplishments and achievements, both in and out of the classrooms, in special recognitions, and in becoming young ladies and men. There is no doubt that what lies ahead for some of these students, may be a little more than they can easily adjust to, and yet, with their record, it seems that this class will have as little trouble adjusting to an adult life from that of a student, despite getting out of school when times aren’t the best, the economy isn’t good, jobs are often very hard to find, and costs of higher education and training are skyrocketing all the time. It will not be an easy task for them, but one they must make and make the best of on down the path of life. We would like to offer our congratulations to the Class of 1982 for all of their accomplishments and hope that their beginning of the “New John Glenn High School” has provided the foundation for a long-time, successful venture as the future generations continue to carry the tradition and spirit that this class has helped to instill and build. We wish the best to all of you gradutes of the Class of 1982.

VOICE OF THE PEOPLE Help The Needy No person should go hungry while others have the means to help them. This would seem to be the philosophy of a group at Koontz Lake who have had it brought to their attention that there are people in our own neighborhood who are in very bad financial straits; who are. in fact, going hungry. A drop off point for a new plan to help these people will be at the Koontz Lake Fire Station on Saturday. May 22. from 8:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon. This is a call for food and other necessities such as toilet tissue, laundry detergent, toilet soap and such staples. This plan was evolved by a few women of the Lake community who prefer to remain anonymous. They will turn all donations over to the township trustee who is in a position to know who, in the community. is in need. Anyone wishing to help, but would prefer to make a cash donation. may do so in whatever amount they feel they can afford; however modest, it will be greatly appreciated. Canned or dried food is requested since perishable foods would be in danger of spoiling. Canned meats, soups and other canned foods as well as bread, crackers, canned vegetable shortening. margarine, sugar, coffee and other foods of that sort are preferred. A warm welcome and a cup of hot coffee will be served at the fire station to all those who drop in to give a hand to those who are incapable, for the time being, of helping themselves. Stealing From The Dead To whom it may concern. I hope you are happy for stealing from the dead.
