Dr. William Bravard, Professor of Christian Education from the Cincinnati Bible Seminary will be speaking. “Celebration”, a mixed quartet from the college, will be in charge of the music and present special numbers. A half hour concert will be held from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Jay Richmond, from North Liberty, is a member of Celebration. Charles Richmond, minister, would like to invite the public to these services.

PLJ School Board News The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Board on Tuesday night, appointed Dave Foster to be the clerk of the works for the school corporation on the North Liberty Elementary/Middle School and John Glenn High School construction projects. He has been job superintendent on numerous projects in the past. The superintendent discussed the summer program with the board. Remedial reading and mathematics classes for grades one through six. driver's education, and recreational activities will be continued as in the past. The board approved bid forms for the six bus routes in Liberty Township to start next fall. Bids on these routes will be opened at the April 6 board meeting. The next meeting will be March 30, at 7:00 p.m. in the North Liberty Elementary cafeteria. MRS. CHESTER CAVENDER Mrs. Chester (Evelyn M.) Cavender, bl, of 27181 State Road 4. North Liberty, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday. March 11. at the Osteopathic Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. She was born on July 6. 1920, in Crumstown. and lived in the area all her life. She married Chester E. Cavender in 194 b, in Plymouth, who survives. Surviving along with her husband is a daughter, Miss Joanne Cavender, at home; a son, Gary C., at home; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Clark, South Bend, Mrs. Betty Stepro, Walkerton, Mrs. Gladys Kepcha, Plymouth, and Mrs. Mabel Perman, Culver; and four brothers, Jack and Harley Berger, both of Argos, Howard Berger, Plymouth, and Homer Berger. South Bend. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty, with Michael Garrett of the South Bend Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery. North Liberty. MRS. FLORENCE H. JOHNSON Mrs Florence H. Johnson. 81, of Rural Route 4, Walkerton, died at

11:00 a.m. Monday in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born October 8. 19(H), in Chicago and had lived in the Walkerton area for 17 years, coming from Chicago. She was married on June 2. 1923. in Chicago, to Ludwig A. Johnson, who died in 1969. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fay Hassett, of Walkerton; two granddaughters; a sister, Mrs. Howard (Edna) Johnson, of Lisle, Illinois; and a brother. Clarence H. Wilson, of Walkerton. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. Robert Gearheart. pastor of the Walkerton United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the services on Thursday at the funeral home. She was a member of the Walkerton United Methodist Church, the Koontz Lake Association, and the Standard Lodge 65 SFA of Chicago.

The Rev. Donald Smeeton, an Assemblies of God missionary to Belgium, will be guest speaker Tuesday. March 23, at 7:00 p.m., at the First Assembly of God. Michigan and Van Buren Streets, Walkerton, the Rev. McCormick, pastor, has announced. Since 1972 Mr. Smeeton and his wife Dolores have been ministering in Belgium as Assemblies of God ministers working overseas. During this time they assisted in establishing the Teen Challenge ministry in Brussels. Mr. Smeeton also served for eight years as a teacher at Continental Bible College. Founded in 1969. Continental provides advanced studies for graduates of various Bible colleges in Europe and the Middle East. Last year the student body was composed of students from more than 20 countries. tionally, they will continue their ministry of helping local churches and holding seminars. About his work in Europe. Mr. Smeeton says, “Europe is the world’s forgotten mission field. There are 250,000 towns and villages w ithout an evengelical church. Europe is civilized, but it is not Christianized.” Prior to their ministry abroad, the Smeetons served as youth pas tors at Northwest Assembly of Gixi in Mt Prospect. Illinois. Mr Smeeton undergraduate degrees Iron, Ex angel College and C entral Bible College, both in Springfield. Missouri He also holds two grad uate degrees and working on a d<x torate from the University of I ou xain in Belgium. Mrs. Smeeton holds a B.S. degree from Evangel College. The Smeetons have two children, a daughter and a son. Mr. Smeeton will present the challenge of European missions at this special rally. The public is invited to attend.
