The first meeting a week earlier, was a 59-58 victory for Bremen in the final game of the Bi-County Tourney and the Lions proved it was no fluke by blowing the Falcons out late in the game for the 17 point margin of victory. The loss dropped the Falcons' record to 7-4 for the season and the victory pushed Bremen to an 8-6 record after a deplorable start this season The host Lions got the game's first two baskets as Joe Mullen and Brad Kolter connected on a lay-in and then a 17 footer respectively. Mike Arnett put Glenn on the board with a 10 footer from the side, but Kolter. the 6’6” center, tallied on a fast break. Joe Harness hit for Glenn from 11 feet, but Kolter came back with another fast break lay-in taking a nice pass from Todd Wagoner. The Bremen 8-4 lead quickly disapated however, as the Falcons were moving the ball well on offense and got things going in the right direction after the early four basket surge by Bremen. Pat Franklin took a good Jeff Tinkey pass for a lay-in and Arnett tied the score with two free throws. Tinkey then beat the Bremen press for a lay-in and Mike Aitken hit from under for an eight point surge before Kolter pumped in a medium length baseline shot for the Lions. Harness hit again on a rebound shot and after Wagoner swished a 14 footer, Aitken hit a lay-in and Franklin a 16 footer tor an 18-12 lead. Kotler came back with his fifth basket of the period but Harness hit one of two from the line to make it Glenn 19. Bremen 14 after one. Franklin extended this lead to 7 with a lay-in after a minute passed in quarter number two. The Lions came roaring back with three straight baskets, the first by Mickey Gardner and then two by Wagoner before Arnett hit again from the left baseline in close. A Mullen free throw in two attemps was followed by back-to-back baskets by Arnett and Jim Dreessen to again open a six point Glenn lead before the tide of the game changed completely. I he last half of the second stanza was all Bremen and it carried over into the second half as well. In the final three and a half minutes the Falcons managed only baskets by

Phil Groves and Tinkey while Bremen was charging from six down to a 32-21 halftime advantage. Wagoner was the big gun in this drive. For some reason this Falcon team has trouble keeping intensity and momentum going. It happened again in this game and the Lions just took complete charge from this point on. To start the second half. Bremen hit three baskets in a row by three different boys before Tinkey made one of two from the foul line. Another Wagoner basket was finally followed by one by Franklin, taking a nice pass from Harness for a lay-in. However, poor ball movement and shot selection was coupled with enough turnovers at this point that the host Lions were opening up a margin that was going to carry them a long way. The lead got up to eight, was cut to six on a couple of occasions before Tinkey hit two baskets in a row late in the quarter only to have Gardner hit one with :02 show ing to give Bremen a 48-42 lead heading into the final stanza. The Falcons never got closer than six in the final stanza. The two teams traded baskets until two in a row by the Lions three minutes into the quarter opened the lead to 10. Glenn answ-ered this with two baskets by Harness and Arnett, but it was their last hurrah as the final six minutes found only these two baskets and two late ones by Harness. The blowout was underway and the Falcons couldn't do much late in the game as Bremen controlled everything on their way to their I 7 point margin of victory . Wagoner turned in a fine allround ballgame and led the Lions in scoring with 22 points on 10 baskets and a perfect pair from the line. Kolter added 19 as he really spurred the early game and Wagoner took over the scoring chores later. Arnett paced the Falcons with 16 as he was getting more shots than normal. Tinkey had 13 and Harness 11 for the other Falcons in double figures. B-Team Streak Broken The Glenn B Team tasted defeat for the first time since the opening game of the season as the Bremen reserves got a little revenge for the Falcons victory in the Bi-County finals a week earlier. The score was 40-34 and left the Glenn team with a fine 9-2 mark at this point. Spencer Wilcox and Jeff Fansler paced the Glenn team with 9 and 8 points respectively.
