ACQUISITION OF FARMERS STATE BANK COMPLETED The Wyatt Bancorp, Inc., an Indiana one-bank holding company. has completed the acquisition of the Farmers State Bank of Wyatt. Under the terms of the agreement. Wyatt Bancorp, Inc., has purchased all of the outstanding stock of the s3’ million deposit bank. The Farmers State Bank was formed in 191 7 as a private bank, then in 1925 became a state charter bank. The founder. Louis W. Gerber. had until December 1. 1981. acted as the bank's chairman, his career spanning over h 5 years. J In announcing the sale. Mr. Gerber stated. "My family has enjoyed many wonderful years in the communities of Wyatt and Walkerton, where we lave a branch, but we all felt it was time we left the banking business and are very pleased to have consumated our sale with a fine group of new investors. I feel we leave the bank in good hands. The transition period has been advantageous to both sides and it has given the new management a chance to get acquainted with our customers. We wish them well in their new endeavor and are confident that they will carry on the fine banking traditions that our customers have become accustomed to". Thomas T. Boyd, a LaPorte banker, has been elected president and chief executive officer of the hank. Boyd, whose own banking career spans 25 years, was formerly chief executive officer of a laPorte bank and has been at the Wyatt bank as an executive officer since January 1. 1981. Neu Is elected directors of the Farmers State Bank include Mrs. Richard Hershberger, a Walkerton businesswoman; James Laidig. a Wyatt agri businessman; Lawrence F Hiler of Walkerton. Vice President of the Hiler enterprises of Walkerton and LaPorte; and E. Edward Hiler, president of P & H Machine Company of Walkerton. Jo Hershberger, a graduate of DePauw University, has served as editor of The Walkerton Shopper since 1974. A former reporter for The Chicago Tribune, she has had articles and stories printed in other newspapers and children's magazines. She is a member of the Walkerton United Methodist Church. Walkerton Chamber of ( ommerce Board, and Tri Kappa. She and her husband. Dr. G. R. Hershberger, are the parents of four children; Karl, a senior at Hanover College; Paul, a DePauw sophomore; Katie, 15; and Laurie. 12. James S. Laidig resides in Madison Township where he operates a 900 acre grain and livestock farm. He is a member of the Community Gospel Church and Superintendent Advisory Council of Penn Harris Madison School Corporation. He and his wife, Barbara, have four children. January 4. at 11 00 a.m. and will remain open until 7:00 p.m. and follow on their regular schedule.
