The Weils Aluminum Corpora tion held its 1981 Service Awards Banquet on Saturday. November 21. at the Plymouth Holiday Inn. Individuals who have reached increments of 5 years of service in I^Bl were given awards I he follow ing are the employees w ho received these awards: 30 Years — Betty Sheneman and Wilham Graves 25 Years — Rita Eby. George Sheneman and Al Heim 20 Years — Cecil Klopfenstein and Norma Kidder 15 Years — Fay Gall. John Zenon. Earl Holmes and Allen Al bright 10 Years — Bud Franklin. Walt ( alhoon. Mary Filers. Linda Bell and Vickie Brownlee A total of 37$ of service was rep resented with awards for 31 cmployees for the sear of 1981 Wells expressed its appreciation for the service and ioyaltv of these cmployees. Bernes Magneson, president of Wells Aluminum, thanked esers one for their fine efforts at the plant He then spoke regarding (he challenges of the future in an increasingly more competitive bus iness climate. Mr Magneson presented the
awards while Ron Berton. Works Manager for the North Liberty plants, gave some information about each of the recipients. To end the evening Betty Sheneman. a 30-year employee, drew names for the table centerpieces. The winners were Betty Sheneman. Al Heim, Rita Eby, Greg Gensinger, Bernice Knepp. Audrey Crothers. Allen Albright. Cecil Klopfenstein and George Sheneman. Everyone had an enjoyable evening. TO GRADUATE FROM ACADEMY FRIDAY, DEC. 18 Deputy Marshal Mitchell P Pearish of the Walkerton Police Department is one of the 100 officers who will graduate from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at 1:00 p.m. Friday . December IS. Ihe Academy is located on 300 acres of ground about one-half mile southwest of Plainfield. The Honorable Robert I). Orr. Governor of the state of Indiana, will be the principal speaker at the event. ( olonel Arthur R Ranev, Jr., the Academy's Executive Director. and Douglas R. Phelps. Superintendent of the Enforcement Division of the Department of Natural Resources, class president, will also address the graduating officers, their families and guests. Indiana requires all non-elected law enforcement officers to successfully complete a minimum of four hundred hours of basic training within their first year of service. Failure to complete the training results in the officer losing the power to arrest. It is interesting to note that no tax money is used to support this program. And there is no charge to the officer of department. Instead. the training is funded through court costs paid b\ traffic violators and persons charged with criminal offenses. In line with the Academy's motto. "For All I he People”, civic groups and families are invited to tour the facility any Monday through Fridav from l():(X) a m. until 4:(X) p.m. Evening tours can also be arranged Please call 3T 839-SHI. WILDCATS TAKE TWO FROM STILLWELL The Walkerton Wildcats took two games from Stillwell last week The fifth grade won by a score of 40-12 raising their record to 5 1 The sixth grade brought its record to 4 I w ith a 28-6 v ictory David Fansler stole seven passes and scored 10 points for the Cats while King. Pinckert and Drews chipped in with 6. b and 5 respectivelv. Anderson and Kirkham scored six for the Stillwell Vikings.
