Mr. and Mrs. Gail Whitaker and son Terry spent the weekend at Elmhurst, Illinois with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pina and son Tony, and attended their annual Christmas tinner and dance party as honored quests at the Oak Bnxik Terrisvilla (’ark Holiday Inn. Terry also attended a hockey game in which lony is a member of one of the teams. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst were Sunday afternoon callers of Mrs. Leota Lemert and daughter, in Hobart. Mrs. Frances Powers, of Oak Lawn, was also there. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Pippinger were Sunday evening callers of the Klincdinsts. Mrs. Viola Barden and Norman hosted the Christmas dinner in their home on Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Skinner. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Danny Barden and daughters. Mrs. and Mrs. Lester Bierly, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bierly, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bierly, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Bierly, Miss Ethel Bierly. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith and Mrs. Doris Malstaff. of Union Mills. Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moravek will be hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner Saturday night and at this meeting they will have their regular Christmas party, which is always enjoyed. There will be a grab bag with a gift of a dollar value. This is the usual pot luck meal. Miss Ethel Bierly attended her birthday club Christmas party which was held a the J&J Restaurant Monday with a Christmas dinner, gift exchange and games in the afternoon. The Singles Club had their Christmas party last Tuesday beginning with lunch at Pat's Bar. in LaPaz. then the afternoon was spent with two tables of bridge for entertainment with dessert and coffee served by the hostess, Mrs. Bertha Urbin. The Haven Hubbard Helpers Christmas party was held last Thursday at the Hamilton Grove Retirement home, at New Carlisle. Several people from Walkerton and North Liberty attended. The Fellowship Class of the United Methodist Church had their Christmas party Friday evening beginning with a dinner and a choral group from the Baptist Church of
Mill Creek furnishing the program for the evening. A former Walkerton girl. Nancy Cripe Reese, was in this group. Mr. Jack Wallace was released from the LaPorte Hospital Monday of this week. A Christmas party was given for sixteen people Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lowry and son. All kinds of snacks were enjoyed throughout the evening and refreshments were served by the hosts. On Monday Mrs. Lowry and her sister. Mrs. Jerry Wiegand, went to Bowling Green. Indiana, to take Christmas goodies and gifts to their grandparents. On arrival they found their grandmother a sick woman so the day ended with the two girls taking their grandmother to the hospital. Mrs. Alma Daube spent Sunday night and Monday in LaPorte with her sister. Mrs. Hattie Bowers. Weekend guests of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Fenstermacher were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Abrahams, of Mishawaka; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Owens, of Indianapolis; Mr. Ed Fenstermacher. of Kendallville; and David Fenstermacher, of Upland. Indiana. All came to see Elizabeth Fenstermacher in the performance of "The Nutcracker" in South Bend. Then Sunday, being Mrs. Fenstermacher's birthday, Dr. Fenstermacher had a surprise party for her. The first surprise was he had told her he would cook her birthday dinner. The next surprise was a group of friends coming in on Sunday evening. along with the weekend guests and Dr. Fenstermacher had prepared the food for this. With this kind of treatment Mrs. Fenstermacher doesn’t mind having birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman came home this week after spending two weeks in Farmington. Michigan, with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Masterman. They had gone home with them after the Thanksgiving vacation and while there they cele-

The biggest known snowflakes in the world fell in Montana in 1887; they measured 15 inches in diameter and were eight inches thick.
