SALVATION ARMY DRIVE TO BEGIN HERE SATURDAY The bells will be ringing this Saturday and the following two Saturdays in Walkerton as the innual Salvation Army Drive for his year unfolds. The three Saturlay effort is the funding source of he local Salvation Army Commitce with which to carry on their Aork. especially the many acts of giving to those in need at Christmas time. Once again this year the entire ffort will be handled by volunteer tbor as the local committee has iskcd the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce, the Walkerton Jaycees. the Walkerton Lions Club, the Walkerton Chapter of Tri Kappa md the Walkerton American Legion Post 189 to again provide the helpers. They have done such a ^reat job in the past manning the kettles that the success of the drive has been a real asset to the committee in their work to help those specially during the holiday season. This Saturday the Chamber of ( ommerce and Jaycees will furnish 'he help with kettles located at two spots, the corner of Illinois and Roosevelt Road, and the corner of Illinois and Van Buren Streets. The success of the drive not only rests with the volunteer helpers, but mainly, you the public, who drop in your coins and dollars to help others at this time each year. Io say simply “thank you" to all who donate seems so inadequate, hut for your kindness and donations the program can continue. OPEN HOUSE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM AT NORTH LIBERTY The North Liberty School Art and Music departments will be sponsoring an Open House Christmas Program on Monday evening. December 14. from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This open house will display art work by all the students currently unrolled in art, music or choir. Art work from grades kindergarten through nine will be displayed in the gymnasium from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and work done by the music students, grades one through eight, will be displayed in the music room from 7:00 to 7:30 pm. The Open House will continue with a musical performance of all music students in grades kindergarten through sixth as well as the fourth and fifth grade choir and the sixth, seventh and eighth grade choir beginning at 7:45 p.m. Plan now on attending a most enjoyable evening. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM AT Walkerton elementary SCHOOL DECEMBER 14 ' Christmas Then — Christmas Now" is the theme of the Christmas program to be presented at the Walkerton Elementary School on Monday. December 14. at 7:00 P.m. Given by the kindergarten, third and fourth grade classes, the program will include both old carols and songs relating to the birth of Christ, and a new look at ''anta Claus, in the form of a plav untitled "Santa And The Snowmobile". The boys and girls have been working very hard learning songs, learning play parts, making seen ry and props, and getting everything ready. Why not come and join us and get in the holiday spirit?

Ihe bids were turned over to the architect for review and recommendations. Bids were also received from three companies for new typewriters and were tabled for further considcra (ion. (he board approved the extern sion of the School Nutrition Program Agreement through Septem her 30. 1982. I hex also passed a resolution authorizing the corporation treasurer to move monies within and between accounts to balance the 1981 appropriations. I he board ami the hxal teacher asscxiation have gone to mediation in their negotiations for a 1981-82 master contract agreement A mediation session is scheduled for December 10. Ihe next meeting of the board will be Wednesday. Seek New Name For School Corp. Ihe Polk-1 incoln-Johnson School Corporation is kxiking for a new name due to the Liberty Township annexation. Any patron or student in the school corporation may submit a name for consideration. Send the name to the superintendent s office or to any one of the four building principals. The deadline for submitting a name is December 18. A committee will review the entries and recommend two or three names to the schixil board for their selection. Falcons To Travel To Oregon-Davis Saturday Night The John Glenn Falcons will visit the Bobcats of Oregon-Davis this Saturday night in an attempt to get on the winning ways this season. The B-team game is set for TOO p.m. (Walkerton time). The Bobcats have won two of their first three this season, dropping a tough decision to South Central last weekend. Tri Kappa Bazaar Set For Dec. 5 In Walkerton The Walkerton Masonic Hall will be the site of the annual Tri Kappa Christmas Bazaar to be held on Sat urdav, December 5. beginning at 8:30 a.m. Mrs. Diane South is bazaar chairman. Breakfast will be served this year consisting of hot cinnamon rolls and homemade coffee cakes. During the lunch hour the members will be serving chili. Some of the articles to be sold at the bazaar include cut glass, quilts, cnxheted items, latch h<x>k rugs, puppet dolls, stuffed animals, rhyme dolls, yarn dolls and other craft items Fresh cut Christmas trees and w reaths w ill also be available at the affair As always there will be a large assortment of baked gixxls. This year the members held a eixvkie workship where a large number of assorted cookies were made especially for the bazaar. Ihe special guest will be Santa Claus. He will be present for ihe entire bazaar.
