Focusing on an arrav of colorful graphic and electronic teaching dev ices, ( >as Works' features a pro-pane-powered motor bike, gasification domes demonstrating synthetic fuel production, a cryogenics demonstration explaining the liqui fication of natural gas, and a giant diiu»saure which illustrates the origin of fossil fuels. Audience members participate in most of the demonstrations. Jim Sexton, the teacher-demon-strator. uses these electronic teach ing aids to put complex energy issues in a fresh and entertaining perspective. Mr. Sexton, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, has received extensive additional training from ORAU about the complexities of energy. The sponsors have arranged w ith ORAU to have “Gas Works" visit a different high school each day. The demonstration — presented in an assembly — may be followed by special classroom sessions where teachers and students explore ideas about current energy concerns and the impact of science and technology on social issues. The followup sessions are adapted to the size and grade level of both science and nonscience class-

As part ol an extensive mobile energy edma tion program designed to foster a greater understanding of energy issues, “Gas Works" is modeled after other ORAU programs, " I his Atomic World", "Fnergy Today and Tomorrow". and "Fnergy Adventure". ORAU is a non-for-profit educa tion and research consortium of SI colleges and universities. MARTHA CIRCLE MEETS The Martha Circle of the Presbyterian Church met in the living rixmi of the Church on Monday evening, October 19, with 12 members present. Mrs. Robert Ross, leader, opened the meeting by having the members say the Twen-ty-Third Psalm. She then read a short devotional on the first phrase of the psalm.
