She also competed at the state level in the discus throw and served as a cocaptain of both the basketball and track teams (his year. Jenny is a member of the Foreign Language ( lub and is serving as vice president of the Future Farmers of America. South Bend, has been chosen by the faculty of North Liberty High School as their representative to Hossier Boys' State. I his program, locally, sponsored b\ the American Legion, Post 365. of North Liberty, is a week long learning experience in the theory, organization, and practical application of the process of our democratic form of government, which provides to the youth of Indiana a first hand insight into the rights and responsibilities of a citizen under our government. Hoosier Boys' State teaches the young men who attend the program. the basic fundamentals, structure, and operation of our government beginning at a city level government up to a state level of government, and then provides the attendees to Hoosier Boys' State with the opportunity to apply what they have learned in actual practice as they conduct the Hoosier Boys' "State" in a real life atmosphere. Government classes, supervised by high school teachers, university instructors, and members of the Indiana General Assembly instruct the young men who attend Hoosier Bovs' State on the workings of political machinery the various offices held at each level of government, and the duties and responsibilities associated with each office. Under the guidance of the Hoosier Boys' State staff members, attendees to Hoosier Boys' State operate the Executive. Judicial, and Legislative branches of a state government, with one individual, chosen by his fellow Hoosire Boys’ Staters, serving in the official capacity of "Governor” of Hoosier Boys' State. Young men who attend Hoosier Boys' State are also afforded the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills by attending specialized schools of Journalism. Speech. Law, Police Work, and Band, taught by Hoosier Boys’ State staff members drawn from these respective professional fields. David received varsity letters in baseball, basketball and football and served as a tri-captain of the football team this year. He is a member of the Foreign Language Club, the Student Council and the Liberty "Link” staff. Hoosier Boys' State will be held on the campus of Indiana State University. Jim is a member of the Foreign Language Club, the Future Farmers of America and the National Honor Society. “MAJOR SUCCESS STORY” DESCRIBES PROJECT SAFE "A major success story,” was the phrase used to describe the 1980-1981 State Allowance for Energy (Project SAFE) program by Jean Merritt, executive director of the Indiana Office of Community Services Administration, the state agency which administers the program.
