This request was granted by the board. The policeman's clothing allowance will be divided into two parts, one half to be distributed in January and the second half in July. Marvin Williams, utilities superintendent. presented the completed maps designating the territorial rights of the town's electric utility. I hese maps will be submitted to several other electric companies for their input. Williams suggested some property that will be up for sale might be of interest to the town to purchase. The subject of individuals cutting down trees and leaving the brush for the town to pick up. It was noted that those resident doing this •ire also responsible for removal. A spring clean up pick up w ill be held on Monday. April 20 and Tuesday. April 21. The Budget Cut Ordinance was established as follows: WHEREAS, it is deemed proper to decrease the 1981 Budget for the Town of Walkerton. Indiana. NOW. THEREFORE. Kindergarten Registration At Oregon-Davis Children in the Oregon Davis School area who will enter kindergarten this fall should be pre registered bv their parents before April 24. To pre register, call 86 7 q~|4 or 86 -2911. Also pre-register those children who arc eligible for first grade but have not attended kindergarten during the 1980 1981 school vear Io be eligible for kindergarten, the child must be five vears old on or before September 1. 1981, and six vears of age on or before September I to enter first grade. \ legal certificate is required for registration. The birth certificate mav be obtained bv contacting the Health Department in the counts in w hich the child was born. Indiana law requires all elementary school children to be immunized against diptheria. whooping cough, tetanus, measles, rubella and poliomyelitis. Each child is required to have a tuberculin skin test prior to attending school for the first time. Health forms will be handed out at the meeting for parents to have completed by their family doctor and dentist. The Davis Elementary PreSchool group will meet at 9:30 a m Wednesday. P-L-J School Board News [he Polk Lincoln Johnson School Board met in regular session on I uesdav evening. April 7. with the following coming before the board. Jim Waller, who was dismissed as varsitv boss basketball coach, read a statement to the board indicating his intentions to reapply for the vacant basketball position for next vear. James Patterson, representative of the Concerned Patrons For Quality Education, presented to the Board a modified copy of the organization's bv-laws for their review. John Hostrawser. football coach at John Glenn High School, discussed the football program for next fall and shared his views on the need to add one more assistant to the football staff due to the additional athletes from North Liberty. I he board approved as advertised the following additional appropriations for financing the Urey Middle School renovation project and the construction of a classroom at John Glenn High School: $ 7 50, (MM) from the Common School Fund Advancement; $3,835 from the Cumulative Building Fund; and 5445,(MM) from the issuance of a bond sale. I he next meeting of the board will be held on Tuesday evening. April 14. .it 7:(M) p,m. in the library at John Glenn High School. COMMUNITY WIDE EASTER SUNRISE WORSHIP SERVICE AND BREAKFAST Ihe Walkerton United Methodist Church and United Presbyterian Church are sponsoring a communi ty wide Easter Sunrise Worship Service and Breakfast April 19. The worship service will be at 6:30 a m. and will be held on the John Glenn Athletic Field. The Sounds of Joy will bring their musical ministry. The breakfast will be served immediately following the service in the John Glenn cafeteria. The ticket cost will be: adults (6th grade on up). $2.00; children (K thru sth grade). $1.00; preschoolers, free; and family ticket. SB.OO. lickets may be purchased from either church. You may call the church offices to reserve your tickets. Reservations must be turned in by April 15th to the church offices. Tickets should also be picked up by that time. COMMUNITY GOOD FRIDAY SERVICES ARE SET The Community Good Friday Services will be held at the Wesleyan Church, corner of Van Buren and Illinois Streets. Walkerton, so if you have any decorations you wish to retain, please do so within the next week. Freshman Orientation At John Glenn Freshmen orientation for the 1981-82 freshmen and their parents will be Wednesdav night. April 15. at 7:30 p.m. tn the John Glenn High Schoo) auditorium. This is a combined meeting for the I ibertv lownship and Urey students and their parents. Teachers from all departments will be present to explain the subjects available in their areas. Ihe school nurse will hand out and discuss the medical and dental physical slips. School policies and regulations w ill be explained bv the principal, and the athletic director will answer questions concerning the athletic program. Subjects available and requirements for graduation will be covered bv the guidance director. All Bth grade students and their parents are urged to attend this meeting.
