Spring Arts And Crafts Extravaganza Set For May 1 & 2 The Epsilon Chi Chapter of Tri Kappa will sponsor a cultural event May 1 and 2 at the John Glenn High School gymnasium. Artists from as far as Florida will be exhibiting their talents. Invitations have also been extended to such universities as Notre Dame, St. Mary’s IUSB, Ancilla College and Ivy Tech. Art departments from John Glenn. North Liberty. LaVille, Plymouth. Oregon-Davis and LaPortc have been contacted. Guest artist will be nationally acclaimed artist John Thomas. Mr. Thomas has won many Midwestern awards. He will also be conducting a one man are show at Indianapolis in May. Mr. Thomas is presently the art director at John Glenn High School. Cash awards will be given in each of the three categories. Minimum cash awards to be given will be in the professional category, "best of show " is $100.00; professional first place is $75.00; professional second place is $50.00; and professional third will be $25.00. third place is S2O.(X). Student category. which is grades nine thru college will be "best of show" SSO.(X); student first place is $35.00; student second. $25. (X); and student third place is $15.00. These are minimum amounts and w ill increase according to donations received. Through the arts and crafts exhibit it is Tn Kappa's objective to provide an opportunitv for arts and craftsmen, professional, amatuer and students, to share their talents with the community. Tri Kappa is a non-profit organization. All revenues from entrance fees and bixith space, as well as donations, will be used for cash awards. Entrance fees for professionals is S3.(X) for first entry and SI.OO for each additional entry. For amatuer entry will be $2.00 for first entry and SI.OO for each additional entry. For student entries it will be SI.OO for first entry and $1 .(X) for each additional entrv. Judging will be completed by 10:00 a m Saturday. Mav 2 bv a qualified judge. There is no charge for entries for showing only. Bcxith space may be rented for $5.00 for those participants who would like to sell their arts and crafts. JOHN GLENN FRESHMEN LOSE TO ARGOS The John Glenn freshmen were defeated in their last game of the season b\ Argos 34-30 in overtime Jeff Hurford led the Falcons with 10 points, hitting four of seven field goals and two offensive rebounds. Hurford led the team with 14 assists for the year. Mike Dill scored eight points, hitting four field goals, had six defensive rebounds. seven total rebounds, and two steals for the game. Dill hit 47 field goals, scored 107 points for the year. 7.1 point per game, had 41 offensive and 6 7 defensive rebounds. an average of 7.2 rebounds per game, and had 12 blocked shots for the year. Dan Huffstetter hit three of four free throws in the game. Barry Bottorff had three assists for the game and led the team for the year in field goal percentage with 42. b, hit 31 free throws, hit 67.3 percent of attempted free throws and had 21 steals. Argos was led by Duff with 17 points and Roberts with nine. The Falcons finished the season with 6-9 record.
