OIITUABIB ARTHUR EDWARD ZIGLER Arthur Edward Zigler. 73. of 205 lane Street. LaPorte. was found dead at his home on Monday evening. February lb. He was born on September 11. 1907. in Johnson Township. LaPorte County to Edward M. and Emma (Taylor) Zigler and was a life long LaPorte County area resident. He operated Zigler Gravel Pit and did excax alien work in the Michiana area; and for eight years was the street superintendent for the city of laPorte and then was the LaPorte County Highway superintendent tor six \ears He is survived by a sister. Mrs. Amos (Carolyn) Bierly. of Walkerton. .A brother. Chester, preceded him in death. Funeral sen ices will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. February 20. at the Walkerton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Gearheart. pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. Friends may call at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7;00 to 9:00 p m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Fridav. He was a member of the Walkerton United Meth<*dist Church, a veteran of World War 11. a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post 189 and the LaPorte Counts Farm Bureau. Police reports state that Zigler’s death was due to strangulation and a suspect has been arrested and is in custody in LaPorte. The time of death was set as Thursday exening of last week HARRY W. February 11. at the LaPorte Hospital after a lenghty ill ness. She was born on April 5. 1903. in Lake Village and lived in Walkerton most of her life. On Mas b. 1925. she married Glenn Anderson, in North Liberty, who preceded her in death on May 24. 1966. She was a former teacher at Bethel and Home Schools in Washington Township. LaPorte County. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 319. Walkerton; the Johnson Twp. Home Economics Club and the Farm Bureau. Sursiving are a daughter. Borrelli. Sr.. 86. Koontz Lake, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Friday. February 13. at Fountain View Terrace Nursing Home. LaPorte. following a one year illness. He was born on March 3. 1894. in Naples. Italy. He came to Koontz Lake 38 years ago from Chicago Heights. Illinois. He married Josephine Foushi on April 5. 1924. in Chicago, who survises. He was a retired worker of the Bendix Corporation, South Bend. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Walkerton. Surxiving along with his wife are two daughters. Mrs. Francis Frost. Grovertoen. passed away at 9:45 am. on Thursday. February 12. at Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox, following a heart attack. He was bom on November 5. 1910. in Valparaiso. and lived in the Starke County area all of his life. He married Edith Bennett on November 5. 1936. in Walkerton, who survives. He was a retired farmer and also drove a school bus for the Grovertown School System for 20 vears. Surviving along with his wife are three daughters. Mrs. Jack (Yvonne) Secord. Detroit, Michigan. Mrs Robert (Linda) Owens. Grovertown. and Mrs. Jess (Jeanne) Clark. Winamac; three sons, Norman and Stanley, both of Hamlet. and Gerald. Plymouth; 14 grandchildren; two sisters. SERVICE NEWS February 12 (FHTNC) — NavyFireman Apprentice Richard G. Newgent, son of Donald and Marietta Newgent, of Route 3. Box 587. Walkerton. Indiana, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center. San Diego. During the eight-week training cycle, trainees studied general militarv subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on the job training in one of the Naws 85 basic occupational fields. Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill. Naval historv and first aid Personnel who complete this course of instruction arc eligible for three hours of college credit in Physical Education and Hygiene.
