Community Club Welcomes In The New Year With the snow that arrived outdoors, and with New Year's decorations. gay hats and noisemakers to welcome members and guests in the Community Building, the Woman's Communitv Club opened the 1981 season on January 2 with music and song. Ihe hostess committee, with Mrs. Alice D'Arcy as chairman, assisted b\ Mrs. Civile Walz. Mrs. Charles Minter and Mrs. Carl Stanley, served the ladies a dessert luncheon at tables decorated with plump snowmen and snow ladies. Devotions were bv Mrs Paul Drake, who followed the theme of "Music”. She presented Paula Lowry singing “You Put Music In M\ life”. She was accompanied bv Lois Ross at the piano. Ihe meeting opened w ith all present singing “Auld lang Syne. Mrs. Stanley Karn, presi dent, welcomed Mrs. Venetia Hall and Mrs Elizabeth Johnson of Columbus. Ohio, as guests at this meeting. Other guests were Rosemars and Debbie Wolff. Mrs Robert C armichael. Mrs. Richard Crane. Mrs. Raxmond Vasil and Mrs Robert I raev were welcomed into membership in our dub. Out guest speaker. Wardman, president of the Amen can legion Auxiliary of Walkerton, presented her program on “Historv Lhrough Music”. She told us that "Through music we learn of the beginnings of our Countrs from as early as the |77o’s to the present day”. Miss Jane Keefe, at the piano, accompanied Mrs. Ward man and the ladies in singing mans wry old songs and hymns that placed an important role in our historv.
