Bi-County Meet KOf C Free Features Play Throw Contest All Week Long January 11
I he 10th annual Bi-County Tourney will unfold next week with week long action featuring the eight schcxd's B-Tcams. girls teams and varsity basketball teams. The pairings for the varsity tournev were made last Saturday morning and the John Glenn Fai cons had the dubious distinction of drawing the three-time consecutive winner, and favorite. Argos Dragons in the opening round. I here may be much more than just this game and the right to advance to the second round riding on this game as this easily could be the game that Argos needs to win to tie the all-time Indiana High School record of consecutive wins tin season plav. disregarding the state tournament) I hey will be seeking their bl st in this game should they be successful this week end and that would tic the record held bv the Madison Cubs of some 30 scars ago. North liberty will help kick off the varsity action as they will meet Bremen tn the opening game on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Ihe Lions, although placing in a tougher conference, have only won twice this year and those wins were not over their conference foes. Ihe second game at I aVille’s gym on Wednesday night, will feature the host Lancers, a onetime loser this season, as they will go against Culver at approximately 8:00 p.m. Then on Thursday night, it will be Argos and Glenn at 6:30 and the nightcap will feature Culver Mili tary Academy and New Prairie, a couple of lean’s both on the up grade after a few down vears. but still sporting losing records. As usual. Friday night will have the Wednesday winners meeting in the 7:00 p.m. game and the Thursday victors in the 8:30 game. The finals will be plavcd at approx* imatelv 8 30 Saturday night However, the week will have a lot more action than this as over the years this has turned into one of the more attractive tournies around despite being dominated bv Argos of late on the boys side. At two sites. New Prairie and Bremen, on Monday evening, both the girls and the H teams will swing into action. This is always broken down on a counts basis with Bremen hosting the other Marshall County teams. Argos. Culver Community and Culver High School. New Prairie this year will host the St. Joseph County half which has been at Glenn for several years and is now set to rotate between the two sites. This will include LaVillc. North Liberte and Glenn along with the hosts. B-Team And Giri* Pairings In (he BI cam action. Glenn will open on Monday against New Prairie. This will be a6 30 game and immediately following will be the North Liberty and LaVillc B-Tcams. Meanwhile also at New Prairie in another gvm. the Liberty and LaVillc girls will be meeting in the first game anil this will be followed bv Glenn and New Prairie in

I he same is true at Bremen w ith the High School and Junior High gyms hosting their action on Mon das at 6:30. I he two winners of the B learn games will then meet in a 6 30 game on I uesdav to try and earn their wav into the Bi-County finals on Saturday night at LaVillc. The girls winners will also be trving to advance to Saturday 's finals in the second games at the two sites. On Saturday, the B l cam finals start al 5:15 p.m. at LaVillc and the girls varsity championship will beat 630 This makes a triple header as the boys varsity finals will follow at 8:30 p.m. Everybody will be out to dethrone the Argos Dragons as they seek their fourth victory in a row and also try to break away from LaVillc and John Glenn as the three schools have each won three titles over the 15 years. In the girls bracket, the Glenn girls dominated the play early in the short history, but Culver Com* munily’s girls have won the last two titles, topping Glenn and New Prairie after Glenn had won the first two titles, both times over Argos. Argos, under the direction of Lee Zumbaugh, a Tyner graduate, has dominated the B-Team action lately as the continued run of talent at Argos has had both teams being consistent w inners. It all can be yours for a 55.00 season ticket at the LaVillc site with this season ticket getting sou a total of nine ballgames should you attend them all. Session tickets are priced at 52.50 per session this year and will be available only on a first come first served basis sold at the door the night of each session Ihe B Team and girls action can be viewed for 51.00 each night at the d<H»r. this good for both games as you prefer.
