Public Meeting Tonight On School Merger The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Board has called for the second public meeting on the possible merger with Liberty Township for this evening, Thursday. November 13. at 7:30 p.m. A presentation will be given by the board on the information released in last week’s edition of ‘The Independent-News’’ and a time will be set for questions and comments concerning this financial report. This report was prepared strictly for studying different proposals and estimates of what they would cost and the effect on tax rates. On Saturday, November IS, this issued will be the subject of a vote" by the people of the school district. There will be three voting places, the Tyner Eire Station for patrons in Polk Township; the John Glenn High School, for patrons of Lincoln Township; and the Johnson fownship Community Building, for the people in Johnson Township. These places w ill be open from 9:00 am. to 2:00 p.m. and this is an expression of opinion on how the people feel about the possible merger. The public will be asked whether or not they favor the merger and it the answer is "yes" they will then be asked to choose one of the four plans they prefer. This is not a mandate vote, but an expression of opinion that the PU School Board will consider to understand the feelings of the public

J.G. Fall Sports Banquet Monday Night On Monday, November 17, at 6:30 p.m., John Glenn High School will be holding the annual fall sports banquet in the high school cafeteria. Athletes participating in football, girls vollevball, crosscountry, and tennis will be honor ed. As usual, the banquet will begin with a pot luck meal in the cafeteria. Families are asked to bring a meat or casserole dish and a salad or dessert dish. Families must also provide their own table service. Milk and coffee will be prov ided.
