Mrs. Helen LaFeber, Mrs. Thel,na Lawrence and Mrs. Esther laFeber went to Frankfort Saturto attend a reception given for Mrs. Helen Rearick, a former Walkerton resident. The reception A as at Wesleyan Manor where Helen lives and was called “Helen Rearick Day". The reception was Jiven by her family with relatives trom away attending, some of Ahich were former Walkerton residents. Last Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Williams. North Liberty, and Mrs. Elsie Morris. Koontz I ake. drove to Frankfort and picked up Mrs. Helen LaFeber and drove •<» New Market. Indiana, to visit Mrs. Margaret Myers, who is the widow of a former Presbyterian minister in Walkerton. On Sunday the group went to Attica. Indiana, to see Mr. and Mrs. Don Marshall. Mrs. Marshall is the daughter of Mrs. Myers. It was a very delightful week end. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Labno and daughter will be hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner Saturdav evening at 5:30 P m . CST. Mrs. William DePoy was in ( ulvcr Sunday to visit Mrs. (Jeorge DePoy. Miss Ethel Bierly and Mrs. Della Sponsellor. of Plymouth, were in Nappanee Wednesday to visit Mrs. Mary Metzler. Mrs. Jedy McKnight. of Denver. Colorado, was a guest of Mrs. Ruth Scarf, of Apartment D. of the ’76 apartements. from Wednesday to Saturday. Mrs. Lola Lowman, of Miller’s Merry Manor. Plymouth, was a Thursday afternoon and evening guest of Mr. and Mrs. John Markle, of North Liberty. Eight members and their wives of the Walkerton Masonic Lodge spent the week end in Walkerton, Ontario. Canada. The Walkerton members did the degree work. I hose making the trip were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Cummins. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Whitteberry, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mullett, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kaufman. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Merriman. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Niendoft and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst. A good time was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Bob King, of Craig. Colorado, visited recently with friends and relatives in Indiana and Ohio. They also were on hand to welcome a fourth grandson. Andrew Robert, horn to Scott and Manda King, of North Liberty. Fritz Skinner. Mrs. Viola Barden and Christine, Mr. Leigh Roy Hahn and Catherine, took Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn to Jennie’s Smorgasboard. in Mishawaka, to celebrate her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman returned home Thursday after spending three-and-one-half weeks with their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schultz, in Chesterfield. Missouri. Eighteen members and friends came to the Communitv Building Saturday evening, October 25, to help celebrate the Harvest Dinner al 6 o'clock with the Home Extension Club' of Lincoln Township. Alter a delicous dinner pinochle and bingo were played. Winners al pinochle were Bertha Daube, Hazel Schultz and Dorothy Knowlton and the bingo winners were Mamie Hahn. Pat Cowger and Laura Malstaff. Helen Decker, Nedra Smith and Dorothy Knowlton brought flowers and decorations. It was a delightful evening. Recent callers in the Leonard Beaty home were Mr. Orrin Beaty, Jr., a nephew of Mr. Beaty's, from Washington. D.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Barterncss, of LaPorte. Sunday callers were Mrs. Mamie Hahn. Walkerton, and Mrs. Jim Farrer, of Bremen. HOLD CONFIRMATION DINNER David C. Garwixxl was the honored guest for his Confirmation dinner held on Sunday evening, October 26 by his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitmer, North Liberty. Guests were his parents. Mr, and Mrs. Carl E. Garwood. Brian, Michael and Diane; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stevens; Mr. and Mrs. James Garwood and Mrs. Hattie Dowley and pastor of the Bethany Lutheran Church. man. Koontz Lake, returned recently from a significant event at Lancaster. Ohio, the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the First Presbyterian Church, where Rev. Bowman served as pastor for 12 years. Rev. Bow man was one of the two senior ministers recalled in addition to other associates to participate in the services. Enjoyed were social events, dinners, a trip to Hocking Hills where the foilage was at its prime color and lunch at Grandville Inn. Many pleasant memories were recalled. They then drove southwest to be the guests of Rev. and Mrs. Clyde Wake in their new home in Princeton, Indiana. While there they spent a day at the historic village of New Harmony. Local Residents Attend Head Start Conference Eighteen participants in the St. Joseph County Head Start Program were among the more than SOO who attended the Indiana Head Start Association Conference at Brown County Ramada Inn. Forty workshops for Head Start workers were held during the three-day conference which ended on Thursday, October 23. They ranged in scope from “Science for the Young Child” to a discussion of bi lingual and bi-cultural concerns. Head Start is a program for pre-school children from the homes of the disadvantaged. Its purpose is to train children in a variety of skills so that they may begin formal schooling on a par with their more advantaged peers. Drive Safelv

Melody Ann Lerch became the bride of William G. Wilson during a wedding ceremony on Saturdav. October 18 at the Blissville Church with Rev. Dester Cummins performing the six o'clock ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Errol and Nancy Lerch, of Route 1. Box 289. Grovertown. She is a graduate of Oregon-Davis High School and Anciila College. Donaldson. Ihe gnx>m is the son of Ralph and Norma Wilson, Route 3, Box 162, Walkerton. He is a graduate of John Glenn High School. Maid of honor was Anita Ecker. Walkerton, and bridesmaids were Betty Rice.
