Leslie Kepcha Installed As Worthy Advisor Leslie Kepcha. daughter of Mrs. Charles Travelbee and the late Harlan Kepcha. Route 3. Walkerton. was installed as Worthy Ad\isor of the Walkerton Rainbow As sembly No. 64, on Saturday evening. September 27. at the Masonic Temple. Walkerton. Mrs. Kellv Hall Potts, past worthy advisor of Walkerton, was the installing officer and also gave Leslie her obligation. Other installing officers were Mashelle Pavcy. past worthy advisor, marshal; Pamela Malstaff. past worthy advisor, chaplain; Kathy F.ddinger, past worthy advisor, recorder; Mrs. Sharon Klinedinst. organist; and Donna Klopfenstein, soloist. After Leslie received her obligation the soloist sang, “Ava Maria”, while Leslie was escorted to the east, introduced and received grand honors. Others installed were Jodx C arlson, worthy assixiate advisor; Raina Bridwell, charity; Julie Clemons, hope; Lisa LaFollette. faith; Dawn Carlson, chaplain; Laura Cummins, drill leader; Cindx Hostetler, love; Cara Brandt, religion; Jean Scott, immortality, Janeen Clemons, fidelity; Annette Peterson, patriotism; Kellv Barnes. Laina Rminger. confidential observer; and Jeanine Bussie, outer observer. After all officers were installed Leslie explained her term motto as 'The world is full of beauty when the heart is full of love”. Her watchwords are Love and Faith; her colors are peach and silver; symbol, the heart; her flower is the chrysanthemum and her song. "Ava Maria”. I he benediction was repeated in unison and the assembly had their closing march. Everyone retired to the social room for refreshments of cake, punch, coffee, nuts and mints served by Doreen Kepcha. Leslie's sister, along with Kris McDonald and Laura Norris. The tables were decorated with peach and white and had fresh flowers. Guests present were from LaPorte, Walkerton, Culver, South Bend. Plymouth and Edwardsburg, Michigan. Leslie's first meeting as advisor will be on Monday. October 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple. Theme Chosen For Jr. Miss Pageant Here The Walkerton Area Junior Miss competition, the communities tribute to the most promising young
women of the high school class of 1981, will be held Thursdav and Saturday. October 30 and November I. at 7 :30 p.m. at the John Glenn High School auditorium under the sponsorship of the Walk erton Jayceess. I his year s theme as announced by the pageant choreographers. Mrs. Cyndy Williams and Mrs. Diane Johnson, will be "Junior Miss On Broadway”. The theme will be carried out with music, stage setting and costumes from various famous Broadwax hits throughout the entire pageant. Working along with this \ear's chairmen will be mans behind-the-scene workers. As the weeks go by and the pageant draws near the list w ill continue to grow . I hus far the list includes Jaycee president, John Frovck; Pageant photographer. Mrs. Sue Bellinger; Mrs. Janis Curtis, who is in charge of the dressing rooms; Mrs. Lynn Badgely. banquet chairman; Mrs. John McGee, admissions; and Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson, hosts for the judges. Posters were made last week as a means of advertisement and distributed in Walkerton. North Liberty. Koontz Lake. Hamlet. Grovertown. Lakeville and LaPaz by Jaycee members. An impressive list of awards including a S4(M) scholarship for the local winner was announced today for the 1981 Walkerton Area Junior Miss program. Other awards as announced bv Tom McGee, chairman, include SSO cash for state evening gown, tiara, a dozen roses, a trophy and the opportunity to compete in the state finals held at Frankfort for the winner; SIOO scholarship and trophy for the first runner up; and a trophy for each winner in the following categories, poise and appearance, youth fitness. creative and performing arts, scholastic achievement and Miss Spirit. Each contestant will also receive a charm from the Jaycees and a Junior Miss T-shirt from the Coca-Cola Company. I he local and state programs are sponsored by various Jaycee organizations throughout all 50 states. The national pageant is sponsored by Coca-Cola USA. Simplicity. Kodak, Kraft and Clairol. The 12 contestants who will be competing are Joyce Varga. Kim Southwell. Linda Souila, Karen Malkowski. Kim Lambert. Laurie Wilson. Dana Denaut, Karen Hawk. Terri Bottorff, Candy Adkins.
