P-L-J SCHOOL BOARD NEWS The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Board met in regular session on Tuesday evening. May 20. Several matters of business was discussed. The superintendent discussed with the board the changes in routes for next year due to the reduction of one route. The board appointed Wanda Pontius as head cook at John Glenn High School next year replacing Maxine Schmeltz who is retiring after serving 16 years in the school corporation. The only bid submitted for the purchase of spare bus 18, was rejected. The board felt that publicity on the sale of the bus had not been adequate. Bids will be accepted at a later date which will be announced in the future. The board gave approval for the superintendent to attend a seminar at Nashville. Indiana, on June 19 and 20. Shirley Ross, president of the teacher association. read a letter signed by the entire school faculty expressing their appreciation to the three retiring board members and the two incumbent members for their continuous concern and dedication to the improvement of the educational processs at the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation these past eight years. The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, June 3. at 7:00 p.m. in the administration building. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AT NORTH LIBERTY Vacation Bible School will be June 9-13 from 9:00 - 11:40 a.m. "Jesus I Believe In You" will be the theme. They will travel to a secret destination for their devotions and will return to the Church by 9:15 p.m. An offering will be taken nightly to help support our Missionaries to Africa, the Ed Buell's. The Buells will also be here to share with the young people. All young people grades 7 through college are invited to attend. Be sure to wear clothing suitable for the out of doors. Bring your Bible, pen and paper, insect repellent and a blanket to sit on. There will be a campfire, singing and refreshments nightly. The week will end with a hot dog roast on Thursday evening.
